'Slap cheek's real name is Parvovirus. There is no real danger to anyone with it. There are no containment, confinement or exclusion needs for anyone with the virus. It can be dangerous to those who are pregnant or suffering an autoimmune disorder. Around 80% of people have been exposed to it and contracted it by the time they reach adulthood without even knowing it. Once you have had it, majority are immune - a blood test tells if you have had it.

I used to work in a school, and during both my pregnancies, I was sent home from work due to children in the level I worked in having it. I had to have blood test - found I was immune - and just keep out of the classes the affected children were in for a week.

slap cheek is an infectious disease also known as" fifth disease".being one of the 5th common diseases in children aged between 5-14 years.It is not contageous after the rash is visible but between 5-10 days prior to the rash .It can affect pregnant woman in the first 20 weeks of pregnancy if they come become exposed and contract the virus.It can lead to miscarraige.If there are children at the school with the virus your children may be likely catch it.
