Ok I know you can get braxton hicks during pregnancy but i am just wondering when is the soonest you can get them. I keep feeling contraction sort of pains but I know they are different and I am only 17 weeks. The pain is so intense at times I end up collapsing on the floor in tears. Should I be worried and ring my midwife or is this normal??
I had braxton hick contractons at 24 weeks which the dr said was early they usually shouldnt start until 28 weeks,
I would advise you to go to your dr and get a referral to an obstetrician gynaecologist to monitor your pegnancy, I had my third child last year and had no probs with my first 2 pregnancys but ended up having high blood pressure from 16 weeks and threatnend premature labour from 28 weeks and had to be monitoried closely throughout my pegnancy.
If it doesnt feel or seem right get it checked out for you and your baby.
I know you can get them quiet early, I know people who have had them from about 20 weeks. However I thought they usually were just a pain that kinda made you stop dead in your tracks. I didn't think that they were suppose to be that painful. I would speak to your midwife just to make sure and give yourself the piece of mind, it won't hurt to get checked out, you'd never forgive yourself if you didn't and something was wrong.
I got them about them in one of my pregnancys but they were not that painfull. You should probably go see your doctor cos you could have an irritable uterus or a bladder infection/UTI.
I usually start getting braxton hicks from 12 weeks, and they get earlier the more bubs you have. As for the tears and ending up on the floor I would be going to see your doctor right away! braxton hicks can be quite intense but never painful, though when I was 6 months preg with my last I did get some very painful braxton hicks, but it happened after I'd been driving for 4 hours from visiting my family, and they went away as soon as I relaxed and got home.
I agree with the others that you should get checked out as soon as possible, but to offer some relief, I started getting BH when I was about 18 weeks. I would get really bad back pains and sharp pains in my sides. It would get really painful. And sometimes the pressure would be so bad that I would get cramping in my pelvic floor muscles. Apparently all of this was normal, but it does help you to feel better if you talk to someone who can check you over and make sure everything is ok.
If your in that much pain definatly go get checked out by your docter or gyno!!!, could turn out to be nothing, but you never know,if you go to the doctors it might give you some peace of mind too!
I was getting them with my last quite early, about 16 weeks along. Seems the more I have, the sooner I get them in a pregnancy.
They can be intense, but they are preparing your body for labour. The earlier your body starts to prepare, the easier it should be for you. Use them and practice your breathing etc. You will actually increase your pain tolerance over time.
Never experienced BH myself but they can start early in the pregnancy. I would be concerned that they are painful - I believe that BH are uncomfortable but not painful or regular like contractions.
i agree with the others and say see ur midwife or dr.
i had real bad braxins and when i went to the dr i was told i have early stage preclampcia (not that you might have it) and if i had ignored it it would have gotten worse.
dont wait see them now, not wantin to scare you but its best
This does not sound normal, please do not panic but definetly get it looked into...Ring your mid wife and if you still do not feel like you have the answers follow it up with someone else until you feel heard and safe with the response that you get...
You should definetly call your midwife. Any pain that causes you to colapse and be in tears needs to be looked at. I had all sorts of pains during my pregnancy but i always got them checked out just to be on the safe side.
Give your midwife a call and see what she says, or even call nurse on call and see if they know what it may be, i know i called them alot lol
