Re: naming day!

We had my son dedicated (same sorta thing) but was done by our pastor.

My SIL had a "Pagan" type cerimony in  park and that cost her a bit.

Basicly all you do is have a party to celebrate your childs birth. so a friendcould do it, all u do is bsicly sayig somecute and lovingwords abou the child and your belief.

With my SIL my neice and nephew were blessed with the 4 elements.

So basicly its what ever u want.

And for the certificate places like officeworks sell them or you can make some lovely ones up.

Re: naming day!

You won't need a celebrant as it's not a legal thing - registration of the birth is a different thing. Even christenings aren't a legal thing. So I think you should do whatever you think will be the best! Enjoy the day!

Well you won't need a celebrant (they're only for legal things like marriages). You just register the name at "Births, Deaths & Marriages" within a month (I think) of the birth (might be 2 months).

As for celebratory rituals & gifts; please yourself; be imaginative. Traditionally, baptism gifts tended to be heirloom-type stuff.. Silver cups, name-pins etc. Things that could be tucked away & given to the child when they were older. But I don't see why handcrafted baby blankets etc couldn't be appropriate. Have fun with it!

Hi,

I had a naming day and my mum paid a celebrant to do it, i think it just makes it more oficial and then they give you the proper certificate ect.
