Sleeping issues

Hi all,

Aaliyah's 2ys & 4 mnths old and having problems sleeping. I put her down for a lunchtime nap and it takes HOURS before she falls asleep. The reason being that she gets up and plays with toys and other things in her room and we're constantly going in there and puting her back in bed. I tried a few times to let her go a day without a nap, but then she's sooooo tired by 4/5pm that she falls asleep on the couch, and then is almost impossible to get her to go to sleep at night. Also, sometimes at night, although she's managed to have her normal nap at lunchtime, she'll fall asleep at bedtime but then wake up 1-2 hours later and be very hard to put back to sleep (won't actually be back to sleep until around 11pm at night, then up again at 7am the next morning)

We're getting rather tired of it as you can imagine. I have noticed one of her molars coming through though I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Any ideas????? PLEASE!!!!!!

Re: Sleeping issues

Sounds like she has decided she no longer needs the nap and I know from what you have said that she then falls asleep late afternoon, I had this with Amy and now I joke that it is a bit like having a pet dog as Amy needs to have a good run around everyday and if the weather is good then I choose the time in the late afternoon to have that run around. It can be hard work to keep a child awake (especially when you are used to having that little bit of time to yourself during the day) some children stop napping earlier then others so there is never a correct age to stop napping just be led by your child.

Re: Sleeping issues

some kids just seem to need extra brain stimulation to tire them out so any extra activities or a play at the park or game in the morning .try putting her down an hour later than normal in the arvo and wake her after an hour.or if your able bring your nightly routine forward an hour or even half hour??my daughter was like this and that little extra activity or play at the park worked.i have done all these and they worked for me.
