I don't have any advice for you.  Not come across this before, but we could always swap hubbies! lol.  Mine is too good  a producer for his age, and only produces girls these days!

Re: conceiving after vasectomy

Australian institute of fertility (In Perth), I think that's what it's called. I forget the name of the procedure, but it's not IVF, it's somthing similar.  what they do is they asperate some sperm from your hub, via a needle. Then when you are ovulating they inject it. Apparantly it's $700 a pop. I thought about it at one stage, but decided I wanted to have more than just one more down the track, plus it just seems more natural to just have it reversed. In your case this would work out good.

Re: conceiving after vasectomy

What do u mean by the "doc butchers"? and how long ago was the vasectomy?, as almost all vasectomy's can be reversed. In saying that, you can have a successful vasectomy reversal, but a baby may not come of it, as the man may be in bad health, low sperm count, the woman may not conceive because of age or fertility reasons. Before considering a vasectomy reversal you need to first know if you are still fertile, and have you and your  husband had children before?(yes I know you have, as you are here on minti with 4 boys lol) If you know you are both fertile, then the success rate is very high, almost guaranteed (except they are not allowed to say that, as somtimes if the vasectomy was performed more than 5 years ago then a blockage can occure, due to build up of debriss, which is dead sperm ect) you also need to take into account how long ago it was performed, and the type of procedure which was used, as that will make a difference also. Good luck, there are other ways of getting pregnant and even choosing the sex of your baby, but it can be very expensive so a vasectomy reversal is the cheapest option. I think all up a vasectomy reversal is $5500 and that includes hospital, anesthetist and operation.

Re: conceiving after vasectomy

Not trying to put words in your mouth, 4BOYZ, but the assumption that I was getting from it was that the doctors did such a bad job with the vasectomy in the first place that there is no chance for a reversal. So, if I'm not mistaken a reversal in this case is not even a consideration.

I thought the idea of having some of the sperm removed by syringe might be a good idea in your case. If you're very fertile, it seems as though it might even be less expensive in the long run than getting the reversal would have been anyway.

Good luck!
