coughing and runny nose

My 5 month old has had a runny nose and coughing for about two weeks....the coughing had went away but is back and worse now.  He throws up when he coughs sometimes and this morning he woke up coughing and crying all at the same time.  I took him to the Dr last week and the Doc said it was just a virus.....should I take him to Childrens Hospital????

Re: coughing and runny nose

It could have besome something worse. It's always better safe then sorry.

DS simple cold turned into Broncultis and required nebulizer treatments for about a month. So it certainly can happen.

It sounds to me that he needs to be seen to again better to be safe than sorry...he might need another course of antibotics.

I hope he start to feel better real soon.

Re: coughing and runny nose

If the cough went away them came back he may have developed a secondary infection (bacterial). Sure sign is if the goo coming off his chest is milky or yellow/greenish. In which case he'll need antibiotics.
