Re: sticky eye

Sounds like it could be Conjunctivitis.  My 5 month old just had it.  You can get eye drops from a chemist or if your really worried you should take your child to see your doctor.  Until you can get some drops the best thig to do is keep it clean with warm water, make sure that you use a different cotton wool ball or tissue for each eye as it is very contagous and will spread to both eyes.  You also need to wash your hands after each contact.

Re: sticky eye

Hi, My now 6 month old suffered from sticky eyes for months. I was told it was due to blocked tear ducts and to massage the coorner of the eye to help clear them.  It never did clear. I again went to the doctors and asked for medication. Prescribed chlorsig drops. It finally did the trick and he has had clear eyes for 3 weeks now.

Re: sticky eye

Hi Mezdan. I have twins and they get it all the time. A very good home remedy is some warm water, not too hot for your baby of course, with some salt dissolved in it. Use a cotton ball to dip in the warm salty water and gently wipe from the nose end of the eye to the ear end of the eye. Make sure you use one cotton ball for one wipe. It is very important to have a clean ball for each wipe. Do this three times a day and in no time it should clear up.

Good Luck From Rimmos

Re: sticky eye

It sounds like she has a infection and might be wise to visit with your doctor for some cream to clear it up. Or see your local chemist they may be able to give something to help.

I wish her well

Re: sticky eye

Hi, my baby was born with this and had it for 6mths. I constantly was cleaning it with all sorts of recommended stuff and it was a constant chore. I was told it was just a sticky eye and would clear up on its own. Eventually I got so fed up I took him th the doc who said it was an infection and gave me ointment and it dissapeared after 2 days and never came back.

I think it had to be infected for them to treat it, is her eye red at all? If it is conjunctivitus it is highly infectious and you'll need to wash constantly . If it is just a sticky eye, often they leave it to clear up on its own. If you still dont feel happy, I would push for the ointment:D
