Re: 5 a day?

Hi Jo

This is what i give my son each day (average). I mix and match so that he is getting 3 or 4 different types of fruit

About 10 grapes
1 banana
1 piece of rockmelon or honeydew cut into small pieces (about 3cms wide)
1 piece of water melon cut into small pieces (about 3cms wide)
1 side of mango
2 or 3 strawberries.

For vegies he gets whatever we are having, or he will have some that i have prepared in the freezer. He loves pumpkin, potato, brockoli, cauliflower. Basically whatever we have and then just mash it up, or give it to him in pieces.

Hope this helps a little.

Re: 5 a day?

This is what i was told yesterday in my Certificate 3 course for child care..

Being your little man is 2 years old, this is the recommendation from the Nutrition guide /needs..

1-3 year olds, need at least one serving of fruit a day..

One serve = 1 cup

so his daily intake can include the following

1 Medium piece of Fruit - banana, apple or orange

1 slice of melon, or 2 small fruit- apricots or plums without the pips

1 cup of canned /stewed fruit.

1  1/2 tablespoons driet fruit ( limit to one serve a day)

1/2 cup fruit juice( diluted 50.50 with water
