mosquitos

My daughter (11 months) was attacked by a mosquito last night. she was bitten 3 times on her left leg, one on the right, one on her right knuckle, on her right writst, twice on the face and once on her left arm. It doesnt seem to bother her to much, i dont even think it feels itchy for her. But my concern is that i believe she may be allergic. When she gets bitten they turn into HUGE swollen blisters, then turn rock hard on the second day. I use a mild form (spairingly) of Dermaid with 1% hydrocortisone but doctor reccommends to only use twice aday and at the most for only 2 days!!! is there any natural creams or concoctions that someone may no about to help the swelling on my daugter. I have heard of tea tree oil mixed in with tooth paste, but am a bit hesitant to try it out. Any suggestions would be great.
also, i have a mosquito net that fits around my daughters cott, but i dont no weather or not to use it. I have heard of children chocking or being strengled in them? DO many other minti people use them? Bare in mind my daughter is very adventurous at the moment and will give a good hard attempt to pull it down,

Re: mosquitos

I live in the far north of Australia and my son has been bitten by mosquitos before and he has reacted the same, I used breastmilk at the start (rub it on the bite) and now I use babyoil and a few drops of pure tea tree oil. I would use the net. Good luck hope it helps

Re: mosquitos

Hi,

We always used mozzie nets, I haven't heard of anyone choking on them, but they do rip pretty easily.. We also used to use mozzie coils at night to keep the mozzies away, you can get mortein brand that has a cover for them so kids can't get burnt by it...

Have you tried stingose for if she gets bitten? If you look in a health food shop there should be something you can use thats natural for the bites...

Re: mosquitos

Hi my daughter is the same when it comes to mosquito bites she comes up in really big red welts that go rock hard. The doctors gave my daughter a cream called sigmacort and this works really well for her dont know if it will work for your daughter or not but may be worth asking the doctor about or giving it a try. Hope this helps
