Re: why

yes everyone is different so don't worry. perhaps you are carrying a bit more fluid than you would normally, are your ankles puffy??

On a positive note, at least you will get plenty of wear out of your pregnancy clothes, we spend lots of money on them in the last half of pregnancy and then give them away or store them away till the next one!!

Congrats

Re: why

Well first off Congrats!  I dont want to scare you but are you sure that there is only one? I'm a twin myself and my mom has always told me she looked like she was 9months when she was only 6. She was 4months before they even knew there was two of us, but that was almost 25 years ago so alot has changed.

Re: why

Hi there,

I know that I was absolutely starving from the moment I became pregnant!!! i am quite small (usually 169 c.m 52kg) , so the extra showed quickly!!! I still didn't need to upsize until about 14 weeks. Things were tight, but I got by until then! Mind you, when I was 5 months, I had put on 15 kg!!!! i only put on another 4 during the rest of the pregnancy....everyone is different! I just couldn't stop eating for the first few months! If I didn't eat often, I felt sick. I tried to make sure I had healthy options on hand as I was travelling for work into remote areas with no shops etc. I snacked on almonds, cashews ( not salted) rice crackers, cup-a -soups, fruit, dried fruit, etc... Even though I put on weight quickly, no one knew I was pregnant until I was 6 months ( even though by then I had packed on the weight!Maybe they were just being polite!)  It could be a bit of extra fluid retention early on that is making it's presence felt! whatever it ,enjoy every moment! Everyone is different and all bodies react differently to preganacy! Congrats!

Re: why

Hey Felicia,

I was exactly the same as you. I started showing right from the moment I found out that I was pregnant. Every one is different as is every baby. I was pregnant the same time as my friend and she was so small compared to me. I gave birth to a 10ld4 baby while she gave birth to a 7lb2 baby.  I know it is a pain having to buy everything so early. I just made sure I got stuff that would grow while I grew.  Good luck with it all!!

Re: why

congratulations.

at this stage of your preganancy, your baby is only around 1mm, so its certainly not your baby giving you a belly.  early symptoms of pregnancy can include constipation, bloating, gas etc, so my guess is that you have some bowel distention.  make sure you drink plenty of water (2L per day) and eat healthy, fibre rich foods- cereals, fruit and veg. if constipation becomes a problem, see you dr or pharmacist to recommend a product that is right for you, some apperients are not good in pregnancy.  metamucil was recommended to me, but i found that too disgusting to swallow.  prune juice is effective and safe.

tight fitting clothes at this stage can be uncomfortable.  you can use a belly belt or extend your pants by attaching a rubber band to the button and looping it around through the button hole.

take care and look after yourself.

Re: why

Hiya!

First of all, congratulations!

I didn't gain alot of weight during my pregnancy but my bump was HUGE and started really early on. In fact I first realised I was pregnant at about 3 weeks as my tummy (below the bellybutton) suddenly got this tiny little 'pot'. If your tummy was quite flat to start off with you might show early- I've also noticed that pear shaped ladies (such as myself) who are very small on top and a size bigger on the bottom tend to show earlier just because we tend not to carry alot of weight around the mid section. Whereas an apple shaped lady will not show as much as their shape naturally hides the pregnancy for quite awhile.

Re: why

Big as in your tummy is big? At 4 weeks, the baby is really very small and any bulge you have is pretty much below the pubic bone or thereabouts. How is your eating? Have you been to the doctor? It's important to go to a doctor for prenatal checks and just to see if you are really only 4 weeks. Could you be further along?
