Re: Any difference between cow's milk and formula milk for over 1 year old?
Hi
When I had children that age, I was told to feed my baby breast milk, because that
was better for them, but if I couldn't do breast milk only, I could give them formula, and
breast milk, but mostly breast milk until they were a year old. After a year old, I gave
my baby breast milk, and whole milk, until I weaned them, and then I continue with
whole milk. I was told that breast milk is better, but breast milk, and whole milk is
better after a year old. I only used formula up to a year old.
I hope that help you!!

Re: Any difference between cow's milk and formula milk for over 1 year old?
This is a pretty divisive issue and I know alot of people have different opinions on it....but anyway, here is the advice I got from my friend who is a Dietition-
For children aged 1 and over that aren't lactose intolerant, full fat cow's milk is suitible. For children that are, full fat soy is suitible.
Formula was originally developed for children that were literally starving-either because their mother was unable to produce milk or because they were from a country were there was simply not enough food. Yes, it contains extra vitamins and nutrients, which is why a baby who for whatever reason is not getting breastmilk can, and will, thrive on it. However, once a child is 1 year old or over, they will be getting much of their nutrition from solid food. It is not nutritionally neccessary to give them fortified milk (ie: formula) unless they are failing to thrive. Of course, some parents will prefer to use formula and that is a totally valid choice. It is just that a healthy child will do just as well on full fat cow or soy milk.
Cheers,
K
