How much cows milk?

My little boy is 13 months and has been off the boob and drinking cows milk for a month now. I just wondered how much should he be drinking and how often? He is eating a balanced diet but some people have told me he doesnt need any milk  at all is that right? Also he doesnt settle very well when we give him a bottle and only goes to sleep when he wears himself out completely how do I get him to sleep? And should it be with a bottle or not?

Thanks heaps

Re: How much cows milk?

I'd give him 3 bottles a day, even try giving him milk out of a sipper cup and a bottle at rest time.

do what you feel is right he is your child and only you know him best.

hope I've helped

My daughters 4 and still has around 3 glasses of milk a day. As for getting him to sleep bottles arent really recomend as the milk just lays in there mouth  Just let him play in his cot till he goes to sleep.

Re: How much cows milk?

Whoever told you babies don't need milk is wrong - unless they have a definite calcium intkae from other sources.  Between 7 and 12 months of age require 600 milligrams (mg.) of calcium each day.  A good way to assist calcium absorbtion is to have vitamin c close to the calcium food or milk intake - apparently calcium helps them take it in faster and retain more of it.

If your bub is not having calcium you won't see the down side for  quite a while but his bones won't be as strong and he will be more at risk from fratcures as he grows up.  Google babies and calcium on the internet or speak to a baby health care professonal about it.
