All i could suggest is go do things like hobbies or attend a craft thing like scrapbooking ummm just need to mingle with people and you will find friends.I live in a isolated rural town and i just sifted here 1 year ago and all i do is try to talk to people at the shop and then you well i have made some new friends,I also attend scrapbooking classes so thats great.

Get out of the house and go for a walk... A long leisurely walk when your neighbours are coming home in the evening and you get to see everyone.  Go to the park and say hello to people you see there.  Join a club, group, committee and find like-minded people.  For people to want to be involved with you, you need to be involved to seem like someone they want to know.  People like people like themselves, so stick to the things that you are genuinely interested in.

Hi Krys, I would suggest finding a local playgroup or mothers group as well. Also visting local parks or play centres for kids can be a great way to meet other mums. My daughter and I regularly go to a local kids playland (fully airconditioned - thank goodness!) and its fantastic for meeting other parents, particularly those who have kids around the same age as your own. We tried a few playgroups before we found one that suited us so don't be put off if you try a couple and its not what you want. Its definately worth the effort to look! Good luck!

Have you looked up playgroup australia to see if there is a local playgroup at all?  That can really  help.  Otherwise I woudl suggest community health groups - often have parenting groups or even just support groups.  Also if you ring your local library and find out if they do story time, or your local pool for kids swimming lessons.  Going to something like that can give you a chance to meet other mums.

As stated below groups are always good...   I found my good close friend by joining a group.   We met each other in a bushwalking group. 

Your local health centre will have lots of groups children related that you can join.  Mothers Group is always a good one to join.  We met once a week.

Are there any groups around your area? Choirs, craft groups, walking groups etc

My mum goes to a thing at her local library every week, she's met a few people through that.
