Period Q

Because of having children and breastfeeding, I've not had a period in nearly 2 years. Recently I've begun weaning bubs off the breast and onto cows milk. Yesterday my first period since bubs conception began. Today it's so heavy I'm changing tampons every 1.5 hrs!!!! Is this normal to be this heavy??? If I don't change that often I leak like crazy. It's frustrating and embarrasssing, and I'm fast running out of tampons 'til pay day in 2 days. Any one else had this? Any ideas?

Re: Period Q

Hi there I know with myself I didnt have a peroid for 18months while breastfeeding and the first one I had was pretty heavy but only for a day or two and then it tapered off.  Hopefully its the same for you.  You might want to go back to your doctor and have a check up if it continues that heavy longer than a few days.  Hope it eases up..

Re: Period Q

hi there i hear ya, i was fine with my periods until after my 3rd child once the feeding stopped alone came the periods and they were shocking i'd wear a tampon and a pad and still feel like i was going to leak everywhere, after 2 years of this i went back onto the pill just to calm them down a bit and touch wood its been fine for about 6 months now..........

i found the dr's not very supportive they dismissed it like it wasnt a big deal, but its is when your out and afraid your goin to leak.......there's nothing worse.

good luck with it

xx

Re: Period Q

You're not alone.  My period is so heavy when I get it that I'm afraid to leave the house! I don't know if this is what usually happens to everyone after children, but it's normal for me. I've asked my gyno about it and he said there's nothing wrong with me.

Are you on pills at all? If you are, the pills should regulate your period in no time.

Re: Period Q

I dont know of any tips to slow it down but it is normal to be heavy. Before i fell pregnant i had long periods but they were'nt painful or heavy.

Since ive had a baby mine are now shorter but heavy the whole time and i have bad after pain. My gyno told me it does get better. Your body is just getting use to menstruating again.

Maybe you could borrow money off somebody so you can get more tampons or ask a doctor, im sure they'd help you out. I remember when iw as in school i had to use toilet paper the whole day and just keep changing it.

Re: Period Q

i had the  same thing when my little one went onto solids, i would suggest useing  maxi pads, mine was really heavy to begin with we sound the same with the heavy bleeding mine got better each time, but if it's so much i'd go see your doctor.
