Re: from crawling to walking
The link for most children between crawling and walking is "cruising" ie holding onto things while they practise walking on two legs. Make sure the house is safe at grabbing height! Toys like walkers (baby zimmer frames LOL!) and other toys that can be pressed down on heavily without collapsing (DD1 was given a dolls pram for her birthday and we had to hide a brick in it as it was too lightweight for cruising). And most importantly, it's a great way to give the important adults in your life back ages and dislocated fingers (only partly joking!)!!!
But I wouldnt stress about it. I encouraged DD1 to move from cruising to walking and she walked at... 13 months (the average), and I decided to let DD2 work it out largely by herself (busy mummy) and she walked at.... 13 months too! They get there in their own sweet time, and you will probably only affect the outcome by a few weeks (and once they're walking, there are a host of new issues for you to deal with!)!
