Re: birthday party - too young?
Absolutely NOT! In fact, 2 is a lovely age to have a party. Keep it short and simple though - 2 hours tops - as they are generally not ready for structured games or activities and will just be happy playing.
If you don't want the party at home, take a small group (with parent helpers!) to an indoor play centre on a weekday so there are not as many people around as on a weekend.
Ideas sutiable for 2 year olds:
- You could do a simple treasure hunt with child/parent pairs
- See if you can buy or ent a low cost bubble machine and they will probably be happy to run through bubbles for as long as they have the energy.
- Play follow the leader
By the time they eat and have some free play time, that will fill your 2 hours!
If money isn't an issue, perhaps hire a mini inflatable castle or a small shetland pony (usually comes with the owner who will lead it around your yard so kids can have a ride) or a clown.
If you have a camera and/or video camera, organise someone as designated photographer as you will be busy with the little ones.
2yo kids don't need lots of party junk food either. They will be happy with one cupcake and some healthy food like frozen chunks of fruit, home made ice blocks and maybe milshakes.
Always remember to check with parents to see if anyone has food allerfies though. I still do this even though my kids are 10 and 14 as one mistake or emergency will quickly turn a good party bad!
