I wore contacts for both of my labours, but have never had a cesarian.  I would suggest just to have someone make a note of it on your record (jus tin case they need to be removed for any reason).

The only trouble I have heard of women having with them isn't so much when birthing, but through pregnancy as sometimes the cornea can change shape for different reasons.  It will usually return to normal affterwards though.

Yes, it's ok to have contacts.

If you are going to have vaginal birth and there is no known complication etc, you will be in the delivery room. So there is no question that you can wear contacts, or whatever you want. Just be careful when you shut your eyes tightly when pushing, because your contacts may pop out.

If you are delivering in an OR for c-section, it is also OK to wear contacts.  If you want to be absolutely sure , let the nurses know.

I've delivered via 2 c-sections and wore my contacts the entire time.

I wore contacts when I was in labour with my first son.  I have the ones you can sleep in and I had them in for about four days striaght.  I think they only say that in case of emergency and you have to go to theatre, and they need to give you a general.  I wasn't allowed to wear them with my second as I had a ceaseran.  It's got something to do with the fact that they tape your eyes closed when your under.

Good luck

if ever there was a moment in time you needed to see- the birth of your baby would be it.  i wore my glasses when in labour, as i cant tolerate contacts.  there is no reason that i can think of why you cant wear your contacts.  as long as the staff are aware that you are wearing them (just in case there is a need for emergency general anaesthetic, which is rare).  as a nurse, i know that this is a part of the standard admission questions for theatre.

if someone tries to tell you otherwise, and cant give you a really good reason, i would argue the point.  the birth of your child is an event you need to be able to see.
