Re: Does anyone have a recipe for banoffee pie?

Monarogirl just sent me a link to this question as I had just made something similar today and all because yesterday one of the teachers I have been working with made these treats - OMG, I nearly died they were so damn nice! Anyways, these didn't require any real cooking either....

Ingredients

Biscuits, (buttersnap or something like them)

Can of caramel filling

Banana

Flake bar

dollop cream

Method

Microwave the bickie for a few secs and until you can mould them into a little cup, scoop caramel filing into the biscuit, put a little banana on top, some cream and then sprinkle some flake over the top

It is quick, simple and no cooking - my kind-a-thang!

Have fun

Re: Does anyone have a recipe for banoffee pie?

This is a diet free zone I think

BANOFFEE PIE:

Preparation Time 30 minutes

Cooking Time 15 minutes

Ingredients (serves 6)

* 1 x 250g pkt granita biscuits (Arnott's brand)

* 125g butter, melted

* 2 bananas

* 1 x 300ml ctn double cream

(Caramel filling)

* 1 x 395g can sweetened condensed milk

* 70g (1/3 cup, firmly packed) brown sugar

* 50g butter

Method

1. Place the biscuits in the bowl of a food processor and process until finely crushed. Add the butter and process until well combined. Divide the biscuit mixture among six round 8cm (base measurement) fluted tart tins with removable bases. Use the back of a metal spoon to firmly press the biscuit mixture over the base and side of each tin. Place in the fridge until required. 2. To make caramel filling, place condensed milk, sugar and butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, for 10-12 minutes or until caramel thickens (do not boil). 3. Pour the hot caramel evenly among biscuit bases. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 1 hour to chill. 4. Peel and thinly slice bananas, and arrange over the caramel filling. Top pies with a dollop of cream and serve immediately.

Looks to me like a typical British dessert-a dentist's visit waiting to happen. I think it pretty much has everything I'm allergic to in it as well. But hey enjoy. *giggle*

LOL! Yes, my husband did live in England for about 13 years or so. He's actually a Kiwi living in America though. A real world traveller!  He has a bit of a sweet tooth and misses a lot of the sweet treats he had in the UK.
