Re: Skin tag

A skin tag is nothing harmful or damaging.   It is a common thing for people to have and get, in fact this is most commonly found in healthy people.  If you are worried about it or it is in a place where the outside world can see and you want to remove it for their own piece of mind when they are older you can infact remove this in many ways, some clinical and some home remedies.  One way to do this at home is to tie it until it falls off.  Here is a link you can goto to show you how or the different methods to do this.                                             http://www.medicinent.com/skin_tag/article.htm   My nieces baby had the same thing and it was tied off a few days later it fell off.  Now you cant even see that one was even there!  Best of luck! *****Rebecca******

Re: Skin tag

I can't believe I have just read this! My daughter has one too! I thought it unusual as I have 3 girls and the latest(miss now 2) has one but the other two don't! I asked about it when she was born only to be told not to worry about it. I never however, got any other information on why or what (if anything) to do about it. It doesn't bother her so I thought I'd just leave it unless it does start to bother her. It is so reassuring to know that she is not alone and others have it too! I will be interested to see what others have to say about it too! Happier to know i'm not alone in wondering about it as I feel a bit silly asking people. LOL. Dee

Re: Skin tag

Yes my son has one of these (he's 21 months old) and he's had it since he was about 1. I never knew what it was and took him to the Doctors about it thinking it was hemarrhoids but that's when I was told it was a skin tag. It doesn't seem to bother him unless he has a really bad nappy rash. And the Doctor said if he is in any discomfort I can treat it as I would hemarrhoids so I have cortisone cream for children, canesten cream and paw paw ointment. The paw paw ointment (which we can get here in Australia) is fantastic and is extremely soothing while also acting as a barrier cream. I hope this helps! And I'm glad to know that other babies have this problem not just mine as I'd never heard of it before!
