Breast pain.

Ive asked my doctor about this but she doesnt listen so i will be chnaging doctors. I had Ashton 4months ago. I didnt breatsfeed but did have alot o f milk which took a few weeks to get out of me. The past month Ive had burning pain in both breasts and nipples. Both breasts feel a tad bit warmer then room temperature. I seen discharge from the left side only once but my doctor didnt care because no more came out when she squeezed.

Also since having Ashton my breasts feel really lumpy on the sides. Kind of like cellulite but in my breatssts, once again my doctor felt only the left side and wasnt worried because there are no large lumps.

Does anyone know what this burning pain could be? Its not heartburn, its just behind my nipples.

Re: Breast pain.

I breast fed for the first three months. I too had a lot of burning pain and discovered it was called Raynaud's Phenomenon. I had to wrap my arms around myself to try to comfort the pain. It was burning, and felt so bad at times I was in tears. They say generally, Raynaund's comes as the result of another problem, i.e. poor latch or candida. I assumed my baby would have white in his mouth, thrush, if I had a yeast problem, but there can be absolutely no signs, in mother or baby. I was treated with fluconazole and gentian violet, but couldn't keep up with the treatments for personal reasons, so don't know it it would've helped. But, I was very relived to find a cause.  Really hope this helps, or you find your answer soon!

Re: Breast pain.

I have to agree what other Minti said " but also have you tried the old cabbages leaves for the pain. I am not saying to forget about the pain, still get it checked out, but the is nothing worst then looking after your baby when there is pain. Put them down the side of your breasts, make sure they are cold, you only need one leaf on each. and boy it does work. But, but if you still have the pain after two days, please go to the doctor. The cabbages leaves is supposed to dry up your milk. I this helps, Karen

Re: Breast pain.

To me this sounds like mastitis even though you didn't breastfeed. I stopped feeding Jesse about a year ago now and I still leak a little milk sometimes which looks more like a discharge (like what you get when you're pregnant). So going by this your body still seems to be producing milk long after you stop breastfeeding so it is highly likely it is mastitis. I have had mastitis before and all the symptoms match, I was also feeling pretty unwell with it and my breasts were lumpy and burning also. Ask your doctor (well a different doctor) for sure if there is a possibilty it could be mastitis as this can be cleared up with a simple dose of antibiotics. If you're really worried push to have an MRI done of your breasts or at the very least a mammogram. Because we are so young though not a whole lot shows up in the mammogram which is why it best to have an MRI done. Just because your doc says one thing doesn't mean you can't push for what you want - I do it all the time! After all you're paying them for their services and we're built with this instinct that tells us when something isn't quite right - we know our own bodies better than anyone else so if you think it's mastitis push for antibiotics and if there is a possibilty it could be breast cancer (which I highly doubt because that's usually painless) then push to have some sort of scan done of your breasts! Good luck and I hope this helps!
