holidays

Hey everyone!

Ok, i am needing some advice from some experianced mummy's. Our first family holiday is coming up (13 sleeps to be exact) i'm so excited that i have started a list that covers everything so that i don't forget a single thing. We have just brought a new caravan so thats what we will be staying in. Just wondering if anyone could please help with things that are easy to forget. It's just hubby, myself and our 1 year old son.

I hate forgetting things and i don't want to be going and spending double the price for something i have forgotten.

Thanks in advance.

Re: holidays

Well, you have pretty much been given all the advice you need, but I would say a mosquito net! They LOVE my little boy and there is nothing worse than an itchy mosquito bite ( perhaps some sting gos? aswell). However I wouldn't take stuff just because you think you mmight need it as you will end up taking everything and not using it! Believe me that is what I did when I first went away and it sucks!

Hope you have a magnificent time! :o)

Re: holidays

You have been given many ideas on what not to forget, my only suggestion is to put together a first-aid kit for unforseen accidents and a torch.

Re: holidays

Medications.  I often forget bandaids, baby panadol, that type of thing.

Have fun

Re: holidays

Hey there,

How extremely exciting for you.  We just bought a new camp trailer ourselves & cannot wait to go away at xmas, so I can imagine how much you are looking forward to it.  Things I find useful are:  a rubber backed picnic rug, antibacterial hand sanitiser, tongs for the bbq (too easy to forget these babies),  a large tarp (useful for bubs to play on outside, neurofen & dimetapp to be safe, canvas repair kit just incase there are any accidents with the camper, hand cream - my hands always get really dry camping, a hair band and miltons tablets just incase you need to disinfect anything.  Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.  Happy camping.   Rach

Re: holidays

Hi there. We have just returned from holidaying in a caravan park in our jayco camper (usually we like to bush camp) but with miss 2.5 thought we would '5 star' it. And my little bit of advice is to take a Bucket. Yep just your ordinary type of bucket you will find at Bunnings, or anywhere these days... But only if you are brave enough to use it for the intent we used it for !!!  You know those first morning wees where you are sure you wont make it the 50 or so steps to the toilet block. Well I certainly couldnt after giving birth!! And then I just rinsed/washed the bucket at the tap provided with your site. Of course you may be lucky enough to have a toilet in your van! Enjoy !!!!

Hi,

Dishwashing liquid, laundry powder, a first aid kit, baby wipes & nappies etc for bub, cutlery & crockery if you are going to be cooking your own food, sunscreen, hats, warm clothes in case its cold, towels, pillows! Bucket and shovel for bub to play with if you go to the beach, toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, soap, toilet paper just in case! a little broom to sweep the caravan floor...  when we go camping I pack nearly the whole house "just in case" ! lol......

Re: holidays

Hi, sounds like your going to have a great time.  Pack yourself a little kit with panadol, both for you and bubs. bandaids, aeroguard, sunscreen, savlon for any scrathes or cuts.  Some after sun spray (just in case) and any of those things that you think, just in case something happens in cheaper to take it for sure.

Take your own washing powder if your going to be staying somewhere you can wash your clothes. if your going to near the beach pack extra spare hats(cheap ones) and those rubber shoes things get lost blow away etc.  Try to take as much of your own food as you can eatting out can really add up.  Thats all I can think of for now (gone blank)  have lots of fun.
