hi i am new but school is alot. it is not like prek they are working hard and often tired so they misbehave. My daughter is 6 too sounds like shes under presure. I know my daughter gets overwelmed if i am not on top of things. so try and be relaxed and do things on time so she trusts you and is she getting enough sleep.

wow the other responses are rather full on! wonder how many of them have 6 yo girls?

well i for one have a now 7 yo girl and yep its been the same for me not all the time mind you but she was such a peaceful lil poppet before starting school and shes learnt all these WONDERFUL habits like arguing and chucking tantrums and stomping feet and crying over being told what to do!

i do think mine has to do with some of the other kids at her school and that she has been bullied a lil which accounts for some of the anger but i wont pull her out of school! the school are involved and shes now learning how to deal with other kids bossing her around and their own anger management issues. perhaps you can sit her down and talk to her about the other kids at her school and talk to her about how she reacts to them and what to do if she has a situation that needs working on?

i also think mines to do with the fact she has a baby brother now have any changes happened in your home to upset your daughter?

but the biggest thing that i will tell you is that most of the mums at my school have the exact same problem! alot of it id put down to being over tired and the fact its the end of the year and we all need a break in the sun and the other reason is that lil girls do start testing their limits around this age, they are growing up and want to assert their independance a bit more and maybe the disipline you are using is more suitable for a younger child?

I don't want to freak you out or anything but being that your daughter is very fearful of strangers i think you should get her checked out at your GP (checked out everywhere on ther body). Also her being very angry with you could mean lots of things but to cancel out molestation go to your GP!

It sounds to me that she is not ready for school  yet...You don't have send her to school until she is 7 in Australia...Have you considered homeschooling for a couple of years? I homeschooled my girls from grades 4 - 10 and they thrived without the pressure that traditional schooling can bring. Both my girls are now in mainstream school and love it and are at the top of all their classes...hope this helps a little bit...soul and peace Rowena

It may be worth talking to her teachers to find out if there has been bullying or it maybe just as simple as she is overtired. They do teach alot about stranger danger etc in schools these days so maybe she is a little fearful of something like that happening so teacher her some strategies on what to do if she is confronted with a stranger.
