Re: heat

i carried through summer too and i tried everything. wat worked best for me was close all the doors  and put all the fans on high. try putting a pedistal fan near you (not to close). cold showers dont work. just keep drinking water to keep your fluids up, if u can (i know its hard with a 2 yr old) avoid goin out in the heat.

good luck and i hope u find something

Re: heat

Keep up the liquids, dehydration is easy to get when you're pregnant. Dont drink things too cold or have cold showers as you will just heat up really fast then be back to where you were before.

I was having my first and about 3 months pregnant at Christmas time and I nearly passed out a few times from the heat, (it gets to 40C+ in the shade where I live and most days it was over 45C) my step mother pushed me into the freezers at the shops but when I came back out I had to go in again. I was eventually given luke warm drinks and cold packs to put on the back of my neck and that helped some.

I hope you get some relief and respite from the master, they are hard enough to deal with when you are at your full potential  but when you are full of arms and legs it makes it more difficult.

Re: heat

Dont overdo the cold stuff. When you cool your body down the body wants to kep up the temperature up and will produce more heat. Thats why people drink tea in summer. I am in the same situation as you I am 24 weeks pregnant with a 5 year old at home. I try not to go out a lot or change room temperature too fast (as in have the air con on 20 and go outside where is 35 and go back in the house) that just makes me sick. Dont have cold showers as I said it only makes things worse by making your body want to reheat very fast. Try and relax as much as posible.

Re: heat

I really feel for you - I myself was in the same situation 2 years ago & I normally love the summer! My boy was 17 months at this stage and I couldn't sit in the bath either...but I did have a wading pool my mum had bought for my son so we spent a lot of time sitting in that on the veradah in the shade! Also I used cool wet face washers (stick them in the freezer for 5 mins every now and then) and put them around my neck & over my shoulders. Eat lots of ice as that will cool you down from the inside, and try and have a fan or airconditioner on in the room you are in! Good luck!
