Re: starting solids

time and patience with this one cos not all babies start solids when you want them to, mine was early cos he was never satisfied with his bottle. when my little  one started on solids he was 4 months (dr told me to give him a little each morn) at first he hated it but now he will eat everything thats not nailed down, he loves his veges and soft fruit.  we gave him mashed potato and he pretty much dived into the bowl cos he loved it so much.   trial and error give him little bits of what you are eating (bit of banana, some mashed pumpkin)

Re: starting solids

I'm having a hard time with this also. I have been buying cream cheese squares because even if he doesn't swallow it the bacteria in the cheese cleans the teeth. Ther's applesauce in a squeeze pack and they suck on it like a bottle. I would add the baby cereal (about a TBSP) in his bottle a couple nights before introducing in the morning. He really liked Barley, Musli and Apple. He loved to eat and explore food until about 9 months and then he just wanted formula, he even wanted to stop the breastfeeding.  I had to keep my eye out at the grocery store for things he can have but can feed himself with. I also buy Sun-Rype juice it has No sugar added, flavours are great too.

Re: starting solids

Both my baby boys were different - my first was easy.  When he was 6 months old, I just mixed a little bit of Farex with some breast milk and he ate it from the first spoonful. He just kept eating - whatever was offered.

My second boy was a little bit different - he is one year old and still is not keen on eating (mainly breastfed).

My best advise would be to look up what they can eat and when (there are some things that need to be avoided until they are older). Start simply - a rice cereal and their usual milk is a good first food.  Don't bake huge batched of vegies etc until you know they like it. Aand be prepared for a little mess.

Good luck - and don't forget to take a photo of the first solid feed.
