Re: does anyone know what it could be?
Hi Proudmum
Not sure if this will help at all, but in my experience (mother of 6 and lots of hours spent at the Emergency room over the years), the docs can be quite unable to comfort you with your anxieties about how you feel about your childs unknown conditions... As parents, if we havent experienced it, we have no idea how to react! My child Isaac had a seizure of some kind on New Years Day, he turned blue and everything..After a ride in an ambulance and a few blood tests they said well no idea what caused it, we'll get some tests done next week, he can go home!. In my head I'm thinking, ' he turned blue a few hours ago and you sending him home!!!!'
Strangely enough I feel that lots of these docs that have not so good bedside manner, are employed into their jobs because of their exceptional abilities as professionals.. I guess we just have to trust that theres nothing immediately life threatening going on and that's why they send us home with our child and our thoughts..
I'm going through the same feelings as you atm, what caused his problem and what are the results going to be? Am I going to get bad news for him.. theres nothing more intimidating than the possibility that something may not be right with your child and you are well entitiled to feel insecure and even scared..
My advice would be to be strong and turn to whoever you can for support and to vent ( those that care for you will understand) stand beside your child and be positive for her as she gets the tests done. Ask a few questions during the ultrasound, some radiologists can be very helpful as they have seen alot and know quite a bit.. although they wont give you a diagnosis. And when the doctor relays the results to you, listen intently and ask questions..
One thing that confused me was, did she always have this lump or has it just happened seemingly overnight?
Cheers
