How long did it take for your baby to roll over.

Both my boys started rolling over at about 16 weeks of age.  My little girl is now nearly 20 weeks of age and is showing no interest as yet..  She'll roll onto her side occassionally, but not very often and she absolutely hates tummy time.

All babies are different.

J is 16weeks and has been rolling front to back for a while. He has yet to go from back to front.

Re: How long did it take for your baby to roll over.

My daughter was very similar to yours in some ways.  She always HATED tummy time and she was a bit over 5 months before she managed to roll.  At first she could only roll from her back to her tummy (and not on to her back again).  Because she hated being on her tummy she would just start crying - this got rather frustrating as I was having to flip her over again 20 times a day.  Eventually at just over 6 months she finally got the hang of rolling on to her back again and she hasn't stopped.  She is now 7 months old and rolling faster and faster.  I'm amazed at how much ground she can cover in a very short space of time.  We've had to baby proof as much as possible at ground level and I can no longer duck out of the room for a second and expect to find her in the same spot when I come back (or in the same spot in the cot when I put her down to sleep) .  All babies are different and will develop at their own pace.  There are some things my bub's done early and some which have taken her longer than other bubs.

Ahhhh...I loved reading all these answers!!!  Aren't babies wonderful?  Brings back all the worries and concerns and then you find that all is right and your baby is just fine when ever and how ever they do their thing!!!  I see it now in my son and dil and their baby.  The concern is always there and aren't the kiddies so lucky we take such good care of them??  The best to all you wonderful Mommies!!!

Re: How long did it take for your baby to roll over.

My son started rolling over somewhere between 3-4mths.  We did things like get the fit ball out, put him on his tummy and roll him around, he loved it.  we put toys in front of him so he could touch them.    I also layed on the couch with him, with our tummys together so he was on his tummy on mine.   Why not get a mirror and put it in front of her.

Remember all kids are different as you would know haveing to boys already...  don't stress and persistance is the key.  It will happen in time.

Re: How long did it take for your baby to roll over.

my daughter started rolling over when she was about 5 weeks (by accident) and by about 4 or 5 months she was doing it on purpose.

then within a month  and a half she was sitting up, standing, and creeping around furniture (it was nuts! i was so not ready for it)

I'm sure your daughter will figure it out soon, but for now she's probably just enjoying the view she already has.

do you have one of those floor blankes with the mirrors and chew toys and such attached to it? maybe if she had something to look at that was comfy to lay on she would start to enjoy tummy time.

Re: How long did it take for your baby to roll over.

She's very content..  I'm just a little bit of a stress head and whenever I think they are not doing something that they should be I get concerned..  And then they usually start doing it shortly after...

Yes.. Being third baby I have lots of toy's etc..  We have one of those gym's they lie under and play with things above them..  So many chew things it's not funny.  I've separated all the stuff she can hold into 4 boxes I rotate around..  And the only thing that keeps on her tummy for more than 20 seconds (other than me) is a musical merry go round..

Thanks for replying so quickly..
