I was just wondering how much other families spend at the grocery store? How many people do you buy for? Where do you shop? Does that included any things like nappies or formula, or is it just food? Does that include everything, or do you buy meat, fruit, cleaners etc from somewhere else?
Just curious as to how our spending measures up to other families. Thanks in advance!
we are 2 adults and an 18 mth boy, about $200 a week.that includes all bubs things, formula, nappies, wipes, etc.coles & woolies.one or the other usually have specials each week.
We are a family of three and in my opinion spend to much money. We spend about $200 dollars a week. I'm working on this and trying to cut it back. I use GroceryWiz.com to keep an online grocery list and look for free grocery coupons.
I also, keep my eye on the grocery store circulars when they come out. I also, keep the coupons that are printed out when I shop at my local grocery store Meijers since these often match up with what I buy.
My family are very picky eaters so I'm often have trouble getting them to eat things that I have coupons for but I'm working this. It's especially problematic with my 6 year old daughter who doesn't like to eat anything to begin with that alone something she has never had before.
HI, I spend about $200 a wk, we are two adults and a 1yr old, I buy good name brands and this includes nappies and wipes for Jade. I meal plan for the week as I dont like to go to the supermarket all wk. My weeks food shop does include all my cleaners wah powder and my two mags take 5 thats life, lol. I do tend to buy fruit in season to save a bit and my butchers are cheaper too. We do buy milk everyday whish is included in my $200
me, fiance, son = $280-$300 a month on shopping, cleaning chemicals, good steak included.
We shop at woolworths. Sometimes at the local IGA or bakery if we've forgotten anything.
That doesn't include nappies or formula. My mother in law buys us all of Rai's nappies and we have our son on a medical prescription for his formula so it only costs us $5 every 5 weeks (lactose intolerant).
For 4 kids and 3 adults, hubby and I look at about $350 a fortnight, younger bubs are breastfed and in cloth nappies so dont spend any money there except for dettol, sunlight soap and Napisan. We do most of it at Coles but have just started getting our fruit and veg from a vegie store cause they do the biggest bag of potatoes! On top of that, we gotta do top ups on our off week, milk and bread. Not much into brand names, only napisan and toilet paper (3 ply!!) lol.
I shop at woolworths for 2 adults buying cleaning products, and general items. Meat I get from a butcher. I get my vegies from a fruit and veg shop. All my baby products I buy for our son from national pharmacy as I am a member and get 20% off. On average I spend approx $150-200/week. I tend to buy name brands and good quality fruit/veg and meats.
We live in a small country town so fruit and veg go offf quicker and things are HUGELY priced. We spend about $850 a month on groceries including nappies.
Hi there,
We spend between $100-$120 per week. This includes meat from the butcher we get all our fruit and Vegies from aldi as our fruit and veg shop is so over priced. This also includes nappies for out 14 month old which tend to last about 3 weeks and a box of pull ups that last about 6 weeks for our toilet trained son for night time.
Hope this helps

We r spending alot, we r 2 adults and 1 baby, we go to woolworth, and the meat from a butcher, we get Leena's nappies and milk from woolorth also, so the total is 400 to 450 per week. i realy hope so that we can manage it and spend less than that, if any one have any advice please tell me.
I have a family of 5 - 2 adults, 3 kids. We shop at Woolworths and yes I buy meat, vegs/fruit, nappies everything there.. we spend around $180-$220 a week all up.. some weeks are heaps less (if we need less meat/veg) I can get it down to around $120.. but usually closer to $200.. hope that helps..
Hi there. We are a family of 3. 1 child and 2 adults and we can spend roughly $150 a week on groceries, but we buy in bulk and alot of things lasts for like 2 to 4 weeks. i shop at the butchers, green grocers and supermarket.
Ok, for 2 adults and 9 children...I manage to feed us all pretty much under 300 per week including meat, fruit and veg, only buy night pull ups for lacey every now and then now so its not a weekly cost. This also includes subsequent trips to the supermarket to get top ups on bread, milk, fresh fruit etc.. I mostly buy in bulk and make all my meals from scratch.. we only ever occasionally eat out..probably spend more money on bait so that we can take the kids fishing..which also supplies an extra meal for the week if we have a good week and catch a few fish!
I normally do shopping once a week for 3 adults n my daughter. I buy fruits n veges from the fruit n vege shop and nappies from a discount nappy shop for 75 nappies for $22. That lasts 2 weeks. Grocery shopping form Pak n Save here in NZ (cheapest n best supermaket) and it cums up to about $100. My meat i get from butchers about $30-40 a week as well. So all up i spend about $170 a week on shopping.
i usually do shopping fortnightly and i spend about $450 that is for 2 adults and 2 children the age of 7 and the youngest is 21 months that is including all my meat ,food ,fruit ,veg ,cleaning items and nappies for the youngest i do my shopping at supa IGA as i find coles and wollies alot dearer where i am.At the moment i am doing my shopping weekly as i am not home much because i stay at my mums 4 nights a week as my dad is in hospital so my weekly shop is about $200
I spend around $150 per week for 2 people my son is a very big eater, Katelyn is in cloth nappies and is breast fed although she is in disposable nappies at night but I get 88 nappies for $27 at woolies. all the rest of my shopping is done at Aldi.
We shop at coles for everything like the food, cleaning, personal care stuff and that is usually about $120 a week and thats for 2 people (I like brand names)
I buy my sons nappies, formula and baby stuff like wipes and creams from Big W because I found they have the best prices, his formula is like $5 cheaper from Big W than coles.
we shop at coles for basics, ie cleaning, personal stuff, frozen veg, milk etc...then all fruit and veg at the fruit and veg market and meat from the butcher. all up for 4 ppl we spend about $150 a week.
