I would like to ask if any other mum's are living with Crohn's Disease?

I would like to know how it affects your life, your children's life etc? I was diagnosed over a year ago and am yet to find a treatment that works. It really affects my daily life eg. looking after my two daughters and recently I am finding it really hard to cope with. I don't have any family support and there is no support what so ever in South Australia. I feel very alone and like I have a disease inside me that I don't fully understand myself. Please offer any advice or experience you have with this disease as anything will help at this point!

Re: I would like to ask if any other mum's are living with Crohn's Disease?

I have a friend whoes teenage son has Crohn's.  He was a very sick young man until he was diagnosed late last year.  He is on some medication but his mum has radicaly changed his diet and this seems to be helping a lot.  He is a close friend of my 17 yr. old son so I have made sure to find out what he can and cann't eat.  Mostly he is off all grains and sugar (except for honey).  He can eat all kinds of fruit and vegitables (not potatoes), dairy products and meat.  I will see if I can find out more from my friend.

Hey hun!! Firstly my heart goes out to you. I'm under investigation for Crohn's disease atm and was wondering if you could private message me with your symptoms and how you were diagnosed? I've been too scared so far to go for the colonoscopy so the best diagnosis they could come up with my problem so far is irritable bowel syndrome. I am scared to try for a 2nd baby before I have the proper diagnosis but I just don't want to hear that I have Crohn's - not that IBS is that fun either :o(

Re: I would like to ask if any other mum's are living with Crohn's Disease?

hey there my mum has crohns and has had it for bout13 or so years and at first she found it very hard because all 5 of us kids where at home still and they kept muckin around with her medication, they put her on prendazone which stuff her around alot she tripled her weight grew a moustache and other faceial hair and many many other awefull symptoms

she soon after that decided to deal with it without medication as everything they put her on made even more things worse but she just is now careful about what she eats(ie. not grain bread or hot/chili foods) she also can eat too much in one sittin or her tummy plays up and she will b in the loo for like an hour

its really hard 2 see mum go through it but she copes well

but if you want to ask me anything and i can ask her for you

xoxo jade

I do know someone on here living with it but I will PM her and ask her if she wants to reply to your message. If you're sticking around minti for a while my friend also is living with it and has found a healthy balance, I can phone him and ask him what worked for him and then send you a PM.
