Flaashcards??

Ok well hubby wants to try and get some flashcards to help damian talk, I dont think this will work as I will often show him an object and say its name but he doesn't seem to pick up on the words still. I am taking him to a speech therapist once I get into the dr's. However Damian does start talking if it has a visual aspect, such as I would squeeze his nose and say Honk, he will now go around saying honk and squeezing his nose. I have suggested to hubby trying a bit of baby sign language but he seems extremely opposed to the idea.

Is there anyother suggestions that anyone has?? Or do u think the flashcards will work??

Re: Flaashcards??

bring out the photo's. And get hubby to say who each person is, like nanny or mummy. Damien will not not say it right a way, but in a couple of days if he keeps it up he will say mummy or even daddy.

Re: Flaashcards??

I always used flash cards to teach them to talk and to read words. At a very early age my daughter had a trolley with lettered bricks and could tell me a word to correspond with any letter I held up. They were passed down to the two boys and helped them, and I still have flash cards to play with the younger grandchildren.they have proved to  be so helpful

Re: Flaashcards??

We were given a set of Baby Einstein animal flash cards when my girl was born.   She has loved & played with them ever since she was old enough and her 1st 4 words were animal names, before mum & dad!  She started saying those at 10 months, then the sounds went with it.  She's now 15months and can say anything we tell her, but it all started with the cards!!  No harm in giving them a try hey? Good luck!!

My son is Autistic and flash cards are great. I have writen advice on making them as they are easier to make and it is also good to make with the child as well.
