I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY MIRENA IUD

Was hoping there would be some mums out there that would tell me their experience with them... I had my inserted 7months ago. I bled for nearly 8 weeks after the incersion, then stopped for a week then bled for another week.. now I seem to lightly bleed off and on all the time and have regular periods as well...

I seem to get amazing  almost cripling cramps when I have to do, how can I put this so I don't groose you out................................... there is no easy way I am sorry, a large hard poo, kind of feels like giving birth sometimes, not all the time but about 3 very memorable moments since the insertion.

thank you for taking the time

Do all these problems go away eventually or is this my life for the next 5 years?

Re: I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY MIRENA IUD

I hated it, i was going through the same thing..After 12mths i got jack of it and had it taken out..The mirena was the only thing that i could take and cause that didnt work i had a hysto.

My Gyno told me that if i hadnt stoped bleeding after 9 mths than i was going to bleed on it al the time well stuff that!!!!

Have you tried other ways like implanon, the injection etc. Maybe give them a go

Re: I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY MIRENA IUD

Hey Larustyka!

I have an IUD but its not a Mirena one. But i do know stuff about it. I have heard that unfortunatly it is normal to have really strong cramps with an IUD. That is one of the major downfalls of having one. And spotting is also really common. My OB GYN also told me that you can get the regular Mirena IUD or you can pay extra money to get A Mirena IUD with added meds to help relieve the cramping. You should ask and see whats available for you cuz you shouldnt have to deal with all this pain.

Hope i helped and Good luck

Re: I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY MIRENA IUD

To be honest I have had absolute hell with my IUD.  I bled for tthe first three months heavily then spotted for two weeks and then nothing for several months.  However (on the gross side)  had the same trouble with my poos as well.  The mirena is different for every woman and the symptoms usually settle after the first year.  However, if the symptoms really bother you, talk to a GP.  The GP will discuss wether you want it out or if you want to wait till the first year is settled with ongoing support.  The GP will also asses wether the problems are a direct result of the mirena or an underlying problem is occuring.  You may also be sent for an ultrasound to check the placement of the mirena.  Good luck.

Goodness..  That doesn't sound normal.  I had a copper one in for a while and got heavier periods with that.  But I was under the impression that with the Mirena they were 'supposed' to pretty much go away..

I'd talk to a doctor about it..  Maybe best to have it removed.
