Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

I have exactly the same story to tell as Mel192 told you with her 1st pregnancy. I did go to the docotor, and emergency but they didn't help and just said that if it's miscarrage it will happen within 24 hours and there is nothing they can do about it.

Thank God it wasn't so my advice to you is just take it easy, stay calm and feel positive. It's normal, the placenta is forming and the "useless" stuff is getting out of you (that's pretty much what the doctor said)

Good luck

Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

I agree, sounds like an implantation bleed.  This is when the egg attaches itself to the wall of the uterus and you may experience cramping and spotting.  Also sometimes if you have intercourse when pregnant, this can make you spot as well.  I wish you well.

Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

I had bleeding with all 3 of y pregnancies.

  1. I bleed from week 5 to week 12 with my first (usually brownish blood) there was a big gush of fresh blood at week 10.  I gave birth to a healthy bub at 39 weeks.
  2. My second pregnancy ended with a miscarriage at around 7 weeks.  Bleeding, cramping, felt faint.  I was spending most of the time lying down.  Was actually woken from my sleep by the cramps.  There is nothing you can do to stop a miscarriage. Even complete bed rest won't prevent it.  Nor will positive thoughts or anything else (so feel free to be as stressed as you like - it won't make things worse!!!!).  Nature is completely in control.
  3. My third pregnancy was similar to my first.  Another healthy bub.

If you go to the doctor they will heck your hormone levels (blood test), look to see if your cervix is still closed (the mucous plug can let blood through and still be considered 'closed'). Otherwise you can just take it easy as see how things go.

If you get period like pain or notice any blood loss (that looks like a clot), then it is probably a miscarriage. Otherwise there is always hope. Good luck.

Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

Forgot to mention that some bleeding is normal.  Called an implantation bleed. You might want to look this up to see if the dates fit. I think it happens around 6 weeks, can't remember.

If you have any concerns at all about this pregnancy, don't hesitate to contact your doctor!  That's what he or she is there for, and no matter how silly your question seems, if it's something that you're worried about, ask!

Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

This happened with me, and I just took it easy. Don't stress that would make things worse, and try to keep your feet up as much as possible!  It could be nothing, or it could be something, I would just take it easy and relax! Hopefully it all turns out good!

Re: Spotting at 6 weeks?

You should contact your doctor to be sure that everything is okay but it sounds like it could just be normal implantation bleeding.  I too did not have any bleeding in my first pregnancy but I had some spotting very early on in my second.  I went to the doctor where they did an ultrasound to be sure and everything was fine.  It was pretty amazing to see how tiny the baby was on the ultrasound screen.  So no, don't panic, but do get checked just to be sure.
