new bonus

I just seen on the news another bonus is happening. I seen that people who earn less then 100,000 a year get $950, but whats happening with the rest? Is it for single parents? All i heard aboout was primary school kids? If you have a child in school and a single parent do u get double?

Re: new bonus

wow i didnt even hear about this

someone said that its for people with kids from 4 for education cost, does this mean that i wont get it? my son is 21months old and we are a single income family my bf earns under   $40 000 a year (i'm a stay @ home mum and dont get parenting payment from centerlink as they made many stuff ups with payments and we had 2 pay them back so its easier not 2 deal with them if we dont have 2 )

the reason i ask this is because recently they were giveing $1000 for each child right and i didnt get that and all centerlink told me was that IF i'm elegable at tax time i'll get it

all this stuff is just so confusing

Re: new bonus

 Hi.

This is the summary from what I read from Sydney Morning Herald:

Families the package deal kings Stephanie Peatling February 4, 2009 FAMILIES could receive several thousand dollars in the Federal Government's latest economic stimulus package because they will be eligible for more than one of the five $950 payments.

Unlike the last package, singles and couples with no children will also receive up to $950 each, a sign the Government recognises they are more likely to prop up the economy by spending the extra money.

Anyone earning up to $80,000 will receive the maximum payment of $950.

Slightly smaller payments will be made to people earning between $80,000 and $90,000 - $650 - and between $90,000 and $100,000 - $300.

An additional $950 will be paid to single-income families where the main breadwinner earns up to $150,000.

Low- and middle-income families will also receive $950 for each child between the ages of 4 and 18 to help with education costs.

People do not have to apply for the payments. They will be paid automatically by the Australian Tax Office from March.

Re: new bonus

I just had a look at the centrelink website and this is the impression I got also.
You will get 1 payment per family, plus one payment per school aged child, and 1 payment if you are on austudy.
If you are studying but not on a study related payment type then you dont.

And yes, you have to be recieving FTB B to be eligible for the bonus from what I could gather...

they are never to clear about their plans when they decide to do bonuses though.

Re: new bonus

i had a look at the fao website and i couldnt see anything about it, but heres a news article on it -

http://www.news.com.au/business/story/0,27753,25001488-462,00.html

its says this -

The unemployment rate is predicted to rise to 7 per cent, up from  4.5 per cent in December but there was some good news for workers with a one-off payment of $950 to workers earning less than $100,000.

The package includes:

- $12.7 billion for immediate one-off payments to working Australians, families with school-age children, farmers, single income families and for those undergoing training;

The payments are a Tax Bonus for Working Australians of up to $950 for every eligible worker earning $100,000 or less that will support up to 8.7 million people, a $950 Single Income Family Bonus to support 1.5 million families with one main income earner and a $950 Farmers Hardship Bonus for around 21500 drought affected farmers and farm dependent small business owners receiving exception circumstances related income support.

but i still dont know when or who is eligable cos from how i read it its a payment for workers or families with a single income, so people who dont have a job might not be getting it?? i dunno

Re: new bonus

So it would seem if your a single working parent you would get it, or a 2 parent family where only one parent works you will get it.
