Re: Scan

Can anyone tell me what they were feeling like in the first trimester? I haven't had any morning sickness. Is this normal? I'm feeling a little tired but ok. I've had my scan and everything looks fine. What are the complications from here?

Re: Scan

Unless you have a pre existing medical condition, then there should be no complications.  If there are any, your medical team will go through them with you and offer the advice you will need to get through them.

There are common complaints in pregnancy though, and these can pretty much take over your life.  They include increased need to pee, tiredness all the time, increase/decrease in libido, increase/decrease in appetite, sore back/legs/all over, indigestion and heartburn, not being able to sit still for long.

Like I said, they are pretty common, and not considered to be a complication, just annoying.

Enjoy your pregnancy and remember, if there is something you don't understand, then ask about it.  i'm sure many of us have been there too.

Re: Scan

wow your one of the lucky ones no morning sickness, i had it bad both times, i love how they call it morning sickness haha not at all...what can you expect from here well i will say expect the unexpected, it is a roller coaster ride of different emotions, new pains in places you didnt know you could get pains, everyone thinks your stomache is public property, test after test after test, everybody has a different experience, after saying all that i tell you both pregnancies  were the best times of my life and i wouldn`t change it for anything and i bet nearly every mother would say the same. i found 4-6 months the best part of my pregnancies as you just start to feel and see your bubs kicking (which is a feeling you will never forget its amazing) your comfortable as your not to big at this point. Just go with the flow there is no point in worryin whats going to happen, if something is going to happen its going to happen stressing yourself out worryin bout it is not good for you or bubs, just enjoy the ride. good luck to you :)

Re: Scan

Enjoy the fact you don't have morning sickness!  Every body and every pregnancy is different.

Don't worry about the complications. They will either happen or not.  I spent both my pregnancies worrying and had two beautiful babies.  Wasted so much time worrying.  Even even they said there was going to be complication (enlarged kidneys -  abnormal scan, posterior position, huge baby) there was none!!!!!

Take heaps of pictures of your growing belly! and relax.

Re: Scan

I felt on top of the world in my first trimester. I did have the flu like times 100 for the first two weeks after I found out though. I didn't have morning sickness at all through-out my pregnancy so long as I ate breakfast. I had to quit my job because my anxiety was excacerbated by being under pressure. I nearly threw a plate at the main chef.. whoopsie.

In my 2nd trimester I ate enough for an entire family and gained a LOT of weight. I was hungry all the time and must have gone through 10 kilos of Milo, easily. I don't even like milo, it was just a pregnancy thing. I also had really bad panic attacks.

Late 2nd trimester I got really angry at anything that moved for a couple of weeks and horrible heart burn. Must have gone through about 4 packets of Mylanta. I couldn't eat fatty foods at night time or I would wake up in the middle of the night choking. I also developed PUPPS so broke out in a rash over most of my body which ended up bleeding and scaring. Then I couldn't walk from my bed to the front door without feeling short of breath. I couldn't walk anywhere it was horrible, he was pushing too much on my rib cage. Had to use a hot water bottle every night to ease left hip pain. I started nesting horribly, biting off anyone's head who dared to re arrange anything I had already set up.

And then he decided he wanted to be born 7 weeks early.

Re: Scan

Oh and had diabetes. So if I wasn't pricking myself up to 8 times a day, I was injecting myself with insulin with a needle phobia, nice!

Re: Scan

Me too! I had a thing for marshmallows, and when they told me I had diabetes and that I couldn't have ANY marshmallows I actually cried. But I didn't find the needles too bad. Hope we're not scaring you!!

Back to the original question- if you don't have morning sickness you are sooooo totally lucky, I had it morning noon and night for the first 3 months, and a kind of tired I had never felt before. I fell asleep everywhere. In the 2nd and 3rd trimesters you can look forward to swollen hands and feet, clumsiness, forgetfulness, your skin, nails and hair will change, it may even grow faster! And seeing and feeling the baby move is amazing. Enjoy every minute, and sleep while you can!

So many things, I highly recommend the book 'What to expect when you're expecting'. It has everything you need to know in it and then some.

Re: Scan

hi, i've had 3 pregnancies and only had morning sickness with the 3rd. With My first 2 I wasn't sick at all. Morning sickness is not an indication that everything is allright....there's no real reason why you get it. So be grateful that you're having a great pregnancy and focus on enjoying it as it goes so quickly. If you're tired ask yr doctor if you can take some iron supplements or eat more red meat and sleep when you can. A little bit of exercise is a good idea too.

Re: Scan

This is my third pregnancy and other than low iron I have no complications at all. I only had morning sickness with my first which I lost.
My son, I had morning sickness for 3 days. I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with number 2 and had a total of 4 days morning sickness.

I don't think Morning sickness is an indicator of anything, if your scans were normal I would just assume your one of the lucky ones who doesn't get any morning sickness. Being tired is completely normal, I think your having a very normal first trimester.

Re: Scan

Throughout my whole pregnancy I had no morning sickness or complications,  It was just in the last 2 mths that I got terrible leg cramps.   This is normal almost everyone get some sort of leg complaint.

If you are feeling well and everything is fine, then I wouldn't worry, keep going to appts eating healthy and do a bit of exercise.

Re: Scan

tiredness is normal,  I think it prepares you for when baby arrives and you get no sleep at all and feel tired all the time LOL.    Rest when you can.     Oh and not everyone get morning sickness.

Re: Scan

I didn't have any morning sickness at all.  I had a straightforward, easy pregnancy & easy birth.  Try not to think about complications as there won't necessarily be any!  Relax & enjoy & think yourself very very lucky!!

Re: Scan

not everyone gets morning sickness.

i had morning sickness for the first three months with my two pregnancies. yet some of my friends went through their pregnancies without any morning sickness. a couple of my friends had morning sickness throughout all the pregnancy.

each pregnancy is different. some dont have any complications. your doctor or midwife will be the best person to guide you. the main thing is tocontinue with your regular checkups. as you are approaching your final  trimester then your visits should be more frequent.

relax and enjoy your pregnancy. baby picks up mothers vibe try not to be anxious. to avoid this discuss any questions and fears you may have at your regular visits.

take care

annie
