I can only help with Question 2, Does he have a toy that he is really attached too?? If so ask the nurses to let him take the toy in with him, they will probably remove the toy when he goes to sleep and then get them to bandage up the toy and put it back next to him in the bed, that way when he wakes up the toy has had an operation as well and he will have something familiar with him. He will also be able to cuddle and squeeze it for comfort.

I can only give advice about Q1, Is your son in nappies? My son gets that type of rash from the back of teh nappy rubbing against his skin. I wash him with QV wash and i put powder on his skin in that area to help with the rubbing.

1) it sounds like eczma/ dermatitis- I get this when I'm very stressed or from dustmites and have since I was a bub. You can get it from the weather or allergies as well. Try a few different creams, if its mild then sorbolene will work, if not then your doc can prescribe you something else. I have sometimes had to try a few different creams with each outbreak as one that works one time may not work the next, so be patient. An oil bath will do wonders as well. I use almond oil, which is also great for baby massage.

2) talk to the medical staff about your concerns. He'll be put in a recovery room and you should be allowed in there for when he wakes up. If he wakes up before you get there then someone will get you to come in. He won't be alone for long.

3) My daughter is only 4 months but a friend of mine said that you add calories to everything when you can. If you give him mashed potato, mash it with butter, cream or olive oil. Give him things like nutella and milo, with full fat milk.

 1) my baby boy has this and was alergic to nappy creams inc prescriptions and now we use vasoline and it has disapered. He does get a rash some times still, but doesn't stay as long and doesn't get that bad. he gets in on the top of the nappy line aswell. we also dont use any soap or fragerance wipes, shampoo or bath oil.

2) I have had heaps of ops, but glad my boy has had none. we thought he was going to have one on day 1 but luckily it fixed it self (throwing up bile)

3) we have been on 5 percentile, and has gone down a few times, but now he isn't on any %. we also found that he is alergic to milk and his excma got really really bad. went on soy formula and he was fixed. but still has bad reflux and on meds. he may not regain the weight now for a while. 

Ok, i will try and help the best i can

1) to me the rash sound exactly like the one my son gets. It is exzema. My son gets it when it is hot and rubs on his nappy (now Jocks) the cream the doctor gave you should help. The question is is it itchy? If it is then i would say exzema.

2)Again my son had to have an operation when he was about 18 months old. I will tell you that he did freak out when he woke up but we got up to recovery within about 5 minutes of him waking up and he was up walking around within the hour. Most of the time the hospital will let you stay with your child until they are put to sleep and you can sit outside the recovery room until they bring him back.

3) I am sorry i can't help you with this one. My kids have always been in the top 90% for weight and height.
