Potty Training

My son is 3and a half, he has been fantastic with his wees for months and has been wearing underpants all day for about 6 months BUT he refuses to do poos in the toliet or potty, he just does them in his pants.

At first i just tried to be really encouraging then I started offering things as a reward, he started really liking guitars so I told him if he didn't poop in his pants any more I would buy him one. Well I thought this would work as before I said this  this he would not sit for more than a few seconds then he would say I'll just sit a bit longer, very incouraging. But know refuses to sit on toliet at all, does wees standing up and thats it.

I have tried so many things when I ask him why he won't sit on toilet he says he doens't like it and the same for the potty.  I have 2 pottys one basic, one fancy.

Please help any sugestions would be greatly appreciated, I'm started to feel like this will never happen

Here's also some great Minti experiences in this potty training search, hope it helps...

Potty Training

It will happen!!! We had to train ourselves to watch for when our son looked like he needed to go and do a poo, we would help him take off his underwear so that he couldn't go in them and we put him on the potty. We always used the potty for poos and for wees the toilet, with a piece of paper stuck on the wall above the toilet and he could choose his own stickers to put on the paper. For poos on the potty we would give him one of those Natural Confectionary lollies after he finished. He would make mistakes in his undies but we wouldn't say anything about it other than next time you will do poos in the potty and get a dinosaur lollie. And then it's time, time, for him to take his time and the penny will drop, this same process took about 4 months...the real trick for us was to hang around him when he likely did his poos and also watch for when he disappeared into another room quietly. It took a bit for us to get used to doing it, but after a couple of weeks, he knew that it was the potty where the poo went. Then after we established that, we would then empty the potty poo into the toilet so he knew the next step...we found just being relaxed but diligent worked for us....
