Re: What time is bed time for children in your house?
For all of our kids, the bedtime is 8.30 (that's in bed, settled, lights out). My four kids range in age from 18 months to 6 years. They wake around 8am each morning. We are less strict on the weekends, although if they have a late night, we ensure that the next night they are in bed at or before 8.30.
My husband gets home from work between 6.30 and 7 most nights, sometimes later, so if I put them to bed earlier he wouldn't have much time with them, and that would be bad for them and him. He loves his evening time.
I've been criticised by friends for putting my kids to bed too late. They think we're being selfish for keeping them up to have time with their dad. I totally disagree, but it still makes me feel horrible to be criticised this way. Their kids go to bed at 7, and are up by 6.30 every morning. Seems the same to me, just offset.
