Re: infant swings

Hi,

Congrats on the baby girl.

I have a fisher-price 3 in 1 swing and the swing and infant seat are from birth but the toddler seat is from 6 months or when they can hold their head up.

I depends on the swing you get.

Re: infant swings

Please not only take into condsideration the suggestions on the product or from sales people, but your own child....If your child is able to hold their head up and maintain good control then they are more likely to be able to handle a swing and the motion of it....

As one of the other ansers has stated some are designed to be used from birth but in those the child is fully supported in a lying position. Please at all times protect the head and neck from too much 'awkward' movement especially before the child can hold their own head up for a short period of time or sit on their own.

Also if using a "Jolly Jumper" ( Or a product similiar) be aware to not leave your child in the harness for longer than 10 to 15 minutes at a time as the harness can restrict blood flow to lower limbs, and also does not gie alot of upper body support.

Cheers Tania

Re: infant swings

Are we talking the mechanical ones?  If so, have a look at them, and talk to the sales people.  Some are suitable from birth, others aren't.  Just do the research before you buy one.

If you are talking about a swing as in a baby/toddler swing that you hang up outside etc, then your baby needs to be sitting upright for short periods of time before they are suitable to use that means from about 4months.

Re: infant swings

Normally they are from 6 weeks, I think.  It depends on the type though.  It should say on the packaging either an age or a weight.
