I am trying to schedule a hospital appointment for my first doctor checkup (at the hospital - i have been seeing my local GP). Because i work full time, i weant to try to get an appointment that will outside of work hours, however the hospital only does appointments from 9am to 3pm. I have asked to have a first thing in the morning appointment and the first they can offer me is 10am, they only offer morning appointments on tow days a week and even though they take appointments from 9am, the doctors dont usually arrive untilll 9.30am.
I have been having regular appointments with my doctor, and ultrasounds and i know my baby is in good health, but i really do feel as though the hospital dont give a rats **** for working mothers. They are trying to make me take the antinatal classes (even though this is my second child and i never took them with my first) which they only offer during the week (or i can pay for them on Saturday mornings - which i cant afford).
My work is not overly happy I am pregnant and is making my life a little hard at the moment (i am not allowed time off for doctors appointment, if i do it has to be unpaid or i have to take annual leave - there isnt anything worng with that except I cant afford not to be paid and i have not annual leave.
The hospital staff was quite rude to me when i told them that i couldnt make a particular mrning because of a work commitment and coulnt understand why i would take unpaid time off. Once this baby is born we are going to struggle even more financially, and i cant afford to loss my job (which is on the cards if i take any more time off).
Just wanted to have a winge.
When he came home we had to monitor him very closely and medicate him every four hours, during the night too. Needless to say I am just surviving on the little sleep I can get, with every cough or strange noise I rush into his room to check he is breathing ok. I took only one day of work to make sure my son was ok and when I got back to work I was made to feel guilty for taking time off. I then ended up crying in the bathroom (been 21 weeks pregnant I am slightly emotional)
I feel so angry at my boss, who up until today I use to get along really well with, I really don’t think I will have much respect for him from now on. I don’t like to cause trouble, nor do I like to make other peoples life difficult but MY SON COMES FIRST, and those who don’t like it can go jump.

This will be the first time since we have had my son that the three of us will be in a confined space for this period of time, I think up until now we have done only a max of 1hour together. Since my hubby can’t drive at the moment (due to broken arms) all the driving will be up to me (yuck), I don’t usually like driving with hubby in the car – he is such a back seat driver. I guess I will just have to see how it go’s. I hope we all have a good weekend – it will be a very long drive back if we don’t!

Holidays through the eyes of a child

I got to see the real spirit of Christmas this year through the eyes of my son. Although this was not Isaac’s first Christmas (he was only 3 months last year, so he slept through most of the day) he made me feel like it was mine.

The joy in my sons eyes at seeing all the Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, Christmas Lights, Santa was amazing, he loved it all. Waking up on Christmas morning to find Santa had been and left you a Christmas stocking, playing with the novelty toys inside, the joy of ripping of paper then seeing your child having more fun with the ribbons, paper and boxes then the actual presents, It was great to experience that again. He loved to play Santa at the family tree, handing out the presents (with a little encouragement from us), Christmas crackers and those silly little hats, falling asleep with your new toys under the Christmas tree – he looked so angelic, So much joy for one little boy.

Then came the New Year celebrations - We ventured into Sydney to see the fireworks in the city, the awe on my sons face seeing the pretty colours explode in the sky gave me a new love and appreciation for the fireworks display, the noise didn’t seem to bother him. Isaac tried to make it to midnight, but my tired little boy ended up falling asleep at 11.15pm - too much excitement for one day.

I think both Christmas and New Year this year have to be the best I have had in such a long time. My son showed us the True meaing of the holiday season - Family, Love & appreciation for all that is beautiful.

I now have the fun please of buying shoes for him (I have been looking forward to this for a while). I have just bought him a pair of sneakers – (Spiderman ones) and summer sandals (hot wheels). He likes the sandals but is still a little unsure of the sneakers – I think they may be a little heavier than what he is use to.

I now have the joy of chasing after him (I now can't remember why i encouraged him to walk in the first place!!)

As his daddy leaves for work before he is up, we gave him one present the night before – my husband chose it - A set of genuine bongo drums. Isaac absolutely loves them – he has been drumming on them ever since.

He was in a trance with the birthday candle, not to impressed when it got blown out, enthusiastically hungry when he realized he got to eat the cake
