With her arm fresh out of plaster for a whole three days...it was time to go to the hospital AGAIN! We had been on holidays for 3 days ( she had the plaster off the day we flew out) and was playing with her cousin - I was still in bed and thought she was riding the little trike and drited back to sleep - it was after all 5.15 in the morning- however her cousin decided to start zooming her around the verandah on it at warp speed and when there was a reverbrating thunk, I raced outside in time to catch the first scream. MMMHHHMM her head had connected with the concrete at 5.45a.m. I whacked a pack of frozen vegies on the rapidly swelling lump and cuddled her. After 20 minutes when she had stopped sobbing, I felt her head. There was a fine saudage sized lump, but my stomach bottomed out when I felt a largish hollow spot. A dent for lack of other description. Into the car and off to the hospital ( as we were on holiday, it was only an hours drive away!) As soon as I got there and explained what happened, they felt her head and we were whisked in straight away they apparently thought the same as I...a depressed fracture, however, after a CT scan, all was pronounced OK...just a bit of concussion.THe lump finally went away as did the mystery dent! I have this sneaking suspicion that I will get to know a number of hospitals quite well in the next few years!

Finally, after years of pain, I think it may be gone! Early days yet , but 2 1/2 weeks and nothing but surgery pain to cope with! Amazing! I am now minus an ovary as the dermoid cyst had eaten it away ( I guess as it was the size of a decent orange it was sort of a given !) Although until the day before surgery I thought the cyst was outside the ovary ...... apparently not. It had leaked and spilled and caused adhesions to various organs, hence the pain. After being very nervous and organising hubby and cherub, I booked into a hotel so I could make it to the hospital at 7.30 a.m. Hubby didn't make it so I was on my own...very nervous!!!! But all went well and I was discharged after 2 days. 5 days later i had all the stitches out - They did it by laproscope but had to make the incisions larger to remove the bits! I had 2 days rest at home and then had to be up and about as hubby kept getting called out- the cherub needed entertaining and lots of Mum's attention as she had been deprived! Pain was fairly bad for a few days, I was in tears of agony the first day I had to be up, entertain the cherub, feed the cherub, bath her and get her to bed - but 2 weeks later, all is starting to look up! Mind you...apparently the cherub went to pre-school while I was in hospital and told everyone that once mum's tummy was fixed, she was getting a baby brother or sister......... I had several discrete enquiries as to whether I had gone for IVF ....hmmmm! Not quite but it may not be far off the mark as only time will tell! I guess at the age of 39 and only 1 ovary...odds are slightly reduced!!! Not having huge amounts of pain for at least 2 weeks every month is going to be a huge bonus! It was all pervasive...sitting down hurt, going to the loo hurt, the s.. thing was out of the question!!! Am looking forward to a huge lifestyle improvement!

I can't believe it has been so long since I blogged! Where do I start! I finished the history book I was writing. The cherub has started pre-school 4 mornings a week. I have been working from home doing some curriculum writing and my contracting business has taken off so much I have had to take on employees! Never a dull moment! I have also finally had some answers to the pain I have had since having the cherub. I am in for surgery in a few days to remove the VERY large dermoid cyst and part each of my ovaries it has attached to. The Doc is also fairly certain that I have endometriosis and or adhesions that wil need to be removed. I am absolutely petrified, but if I can be in pain a bit less, I will be very happy!

What a month! I have been so busy, I can't even begin to catch my brreath! i had a visit from my sister and 2 of her children ( she left hubby at home with bub!) It was so lovely catching up with her and my neice and nephew! She also had a bit of a break and enjoyed some R&R! Hubby went hunting, fishing and mate bonding for a week,I had his 4 mates staying a night either side. His Mum came to visit for a few days and as she is lovely it was nice! I picked up another friend from Darwin today and we had the local schools 50th anniversary celebrationthis evening ! As I taught there for 6 years I have a good connection! I finally finished writing the 50 year history of the school and it should be sent to the publishers soon! I have also been for meetings with the ed dept re: curriculum writing from home! The cherub is SO EXCITED as she starts pre-school next term! I am juggling fairly well as I work 35 hours a week at the moment and have taken on another 10 hrs with the Ed Dept! I think I may have to try and offlload something soon! I do not have the benefit of childcare of any description and am starting to feel the pinch at times! I have also started doing some swimming teaching..... I need to learn to say NO!!!!! However the cherub seems to enjoy the time that I work as it is out of the house, she gets to chat to lots of people and help mummy! I sometimes think that it isn;t fair on her , but she seems to be happy as long as she knows what we are doing and that she can help me! I have also had a fair amount of pain due to the cyst that is there. It seems to be pressing on nerves and every time I ovulate I am in so much pain, I have trouble even breathing! The doc is very concerned and tried to get me seen to sooner by the specialist, but no luck! unfortunately, I can't take anything stronger than panadol without being out for the count and I can't afford to be that with the cherub and I being home by ourselves most of the time! I love the pressie giving spree, it has meant i have caught up with lots of friends! Love it!

Hubby has been at home for the last 6 weeks as he trashed his knee playing rugby! He had an arthroscopy and informed him he really needs a reconstruction...but if he does that he is on light duties for 6 months, which would lead to us having to move...he doesn't want that just yet so is putting it off! I have had an offer of work from my old employer working from home doing curriculum support work...contemplating it! I think it would be good but I am sure my brain will be in pain for the first while as it hasn't really had to function too hard for the past 4 years! ( the body has and would probably enjoy a change of pace!) I have had a bit of a scare..to cut a long story short, on ovary ultrasound looks pretty nasty so am off for a barrage of tests tomorrow! wish me well, I am scared brainless and have had horrible nightmares the last 2 nights! Promise to be more up to date on my blog! Cheers for now!

The final bit fell into place when she worked out how to get her head out of the water to take a BREATH while swimming! I have been continuing trying to teach her this summer but all she wants to do is play and do flips and swim under the water. No amount of trying from me ( as she didn't want to listen to MUM!) worked. We were at a friends place and she kept swimming from place to place under the water and the other kids had no floaties. She wanted to take hers OFF! So our friend said when you can lift your head out to take a breath, then you can take them off!! She did it the little toad! No floaties and swimming like a fish coming up for breath yay!!! I thought I must have lost my touch as an instructor as I taught swimming for years at schools! I guess it is different when you are Mum! Listening is optional! LOL!

He said that was the good news, but the bad news is that I can expect to get more of them and given family history, he would recommend they be removed just to be on the safe side! I told him thanks....I think! It is SOOO good to be able to move without the stitches pulling!!! Vacuumed and mopped the house and cleaned the laundry/ shed and downstairs fridge and did 4 loads of washing...no pain, no bleeding!!! Yahooo! Never thought I'd be so pleased to be able to clean my house! Have been muddling through work very gingerly. I was feeling very much mended when I did gardening for someone for 3 1/2 hours nearly a week ago....not so mended apparently! Then to top it all off...I got attacked by paper wasps! Youch!!! I haven't run so fast for ages! The whole nest I'd accidently knocked down was determined to get me! Apparently, it was quite amusing seeing me fly through the yard flapping my hat and yelling OW! OW! OW!!! HMMMMMMM!

Feeling better now! Thank goodness!!!! Despite my funk we had a busy week! I went to town and had a day out with some of my friends and their kids as it's school holidays! Their children are all a lot older than my cherub ( I taught all of their kids and most are in high school!) We went to a water park for a few hours and had a picnic lunch! One of the older girls took my cherub down the huge water slide ( the cherub wasn't worried at all but I held my breath as they left the top until they surfaced from the water at the bottom!) She loved it and wanted to do it again...and again..and again...! We then booked into where we were staying ...a kind of bush retreat, Everyone relaxed for an hour or so, then we all headed to the pool for more water fun! After that we pooled all the chairs tables and BBQ's in the central area and cooked up a storm, I then took the cherub off to put her to bed ( she should have passed out immediately due to exhaustion.... no such luck!!!! ) We both eventually slept like logs! We were up bright and early and the cherub made friends with the peacocks ...fed them all her toast! We then all headed off to the Wildlife Park for an early start! Great fun. We had lunch there and then went to hubby's cousins place to drop in a pressie as she had her 4th beautiful bub last week. He is gorgeous! She is very proud of herself as this is the first time she has been able to breastfeed. How quickly you forget how tiny they are ( he wasn't really as he was 8 lb 8 oz!) We then headed back home, the cherub was so EXHAUSTED that she just cried for half an hour on the way back. I nixed the idea of stopping to get groceries...just not worth the pain! As I pulled into our street an hour and a bit later, I got a reminder call re a BBQ that night......I still had to work- as I had played hookey the night before I had heaps to do! So after 2 hours working we raced off to the BBQ. Stayed a sort while then headed home. The poor cherub was beyond exhausted and slept VERY well! So did I! We haven't seen hubby since Monday except for an hour today!! Might see him tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter! I have been so very slack on my Blogging! We have been very busy, but it has been fun ( for the most part! ) I have worked heaps in the last week or so and the cherub has been wonderful ( apart from the most massive metdown while we were grocery shopping yesterday! After 4 hours of looking at lounges, I think she had well and truly had enough!) Lots of visitors and socialising as well as working hard. Today, hubby took the cherub to collect the cherrubin pots at 7.30 a.m. I slept in for half an hour then got up and had a shower ( BY MYSELF!!!! PURE BLISS) Put some washing on and washed up the dishes I had soaking.( Roast ...lots of soaking!) Once they returned ( Yes she went in her nightie with her boots on! ) Got brekkie all round and then hubby said he was going to take the cherub, a mate and his two children fishing. So I packed fruit, cheese and rice crackers all round and lots of water for them all, go the cherub dressed and off they went! FREEDOM ( as much as I love them both to bits, it was the first time I have been blissfully ALONE in months!) I quickly cleaned our place then cleaned the Health Clinic. Got home and grabbed a bite to eat then went and cleaned the Police Station. As I was on the last bit, the happy fisher people returned! I finished up and then watched all the kids in the pool. Got them all some lunch and then the other kids headed off. Tried to get cherub to snooze ...no luck, so he went and played with Dad while I went lawn mowing for a couple of hours! I took the cherub for a bike ride as promised when I got back and hubby then started mowing our place!Tonight, hubby got called out to work. I had just put the cherub to bed and walked downstairs to put the rubbish out only to find my dog had attacked a cane toad...and came off second best! He was snorting and coughing and then started frothing at the mouth! I grabbed him and grabbed the hose and washed his eyes and stuck the hose in his mouth. I had to sit on him to get it in! I rang the emergency vet no and was told to leave a message!!!! In the meantime I grabbed the salt and put a good tablespoon down his gob ( had to prise the jaws open! ) then turned the hose on again. It worked, he vomited. I then atttacked his mouth again to rinse out any more poison. Finally, after 30 minutes, the vet rang back. THe poor dog was still salivating badly with foam around his mouth. I was told I had done the right thing and to continue rinsing his mouth out. I had to drag him back near the hose and he got another rinsing. all seems good now! Hope ypur Sunday was a little less busy than mine! But I must admit I seem to feel better the more I do! Must be an adrenalin thing I think!!!

After yesterday's effort I was SOOO dreading the trip to town today, but I was pleasantly suprised! We left home at 9.00 a.m and drove right into town as I had to pick some curtains that had arrived on order ( after the disasterous kitchen fire!) It takes about an hour and a half. We got there and picked up our curtains and I found some outdoor blinds on sale ( bargain plus!!!!) and so picked some up for our verandah area as the sun blares in and it is not fun sitting outside! Cherub was happy, but hungry! We went a bit further and found the Auto Cheap shop and got some more car window shades as the ones I had on for 3 years had very much fallen apart and had been on the shopping list for a month or so! Cherub fell asleep on the way out of town for 20 minutes. I woke her up for our special " town treat" lunch at any fast food place that has a playground! She doesn't like the food, but LOVES the playground! LOL! I looked at the shopping Centre car park and could not see one free parking spot so decided to head out further towards home. I found a park there but ended up having to wait at the checkout for ONE HOUR!!!!! Remind me again - NEVER SHOP on EASTER THURSDAY!!!( I wouldn't have stayed except for th efact I hadn't shopped for a week and a half and we are having visitors over the weekend - stuck really!Cherub was excellent - I kept reminding her how proud I was of her behaviour and she positively glowed and wangled an easter egg out of me at the checkout! We finallly got home at 6.00 p.m. Still no tanties, or demon like behaviour. Dinner, bed .... Again big praise about how happy I was with her behaviour!!! Fast asleep!!!! So much les stress! Am beginning to think she may also be a tad bored at home! Will have to start checking out the gymnastics classes I've promised! It's just because it's a 3 hour round trip ( and quite expensive with fuel on the rise!) to do it! But I think if she has something to really look forward to and other children to play with, it may just make the difference and she may just stop asking when we can move again ....at the moment she wants to move to California! LOL!

Oh lordy what a day!!!! I feel like I have been on a rollercoaster ride trying to keep up with the cherubs mood swings today! We had a total of about 4 hours of tantrums, whinging and crying, a bit of being cheeky, a bit of being my normal cherub, a bit of being over the top loving and sweet and all spectrums in between! The reason.....NO SLEEP! She is refusing to have a daytime ( about a week since she had one) Wouldn't go to sleep 'til lat and then partied for a while in the early hours of the morning. I am hoping that it all equalises soon- I know it took a few weeks when she dropped one of her daytime sleeps a year or so ago. I hate being cross at her and putting her in time out so often, but I also can't condone the screaming and tantrum chucking !!! Let's hope tomorrow is better! Better get to bed for some much needed sleep so I can prepare myself to go into the fray just in case it's not! Repeat after me ....DEEP BREATH, count to 10 VER slowly and try not to clench the teeth too hard! Bye!

I feel like I would like to belt my snoring husband around the head!!!! He worked yesterday from 2pm, til 11.30 p.m ( He slept in'til 11.30 a.m) then woke me to say he was going out fishing after work and would be back mid morning. He also woke up the cherub slamming the door as he left! ( At 12.20a.m) After getting her back to sleep at 2.00 a.m, ( both the cherub and I currently have the "manflu" which laid hubby out cold for 2 days unable to move and whinging for the next 3 days) so we are feeling real fine! The cherub was then awake at 5.00a.m and set off on a mission on the verandah to catch frogs. She promptly thrust the frogs she collected on my face at 5.20a.m. Lovely!!! Hubby then rang at 6.45 a.m to tell me they had misjudged the tides and were only heading out then....so they would be back a little later than mid morning. He rang at 4.30 p.m to say that they were on shore and heading back. (He had organised that we would be at a BBQ at 5.30p.m...which apparently he had forgotten about) I rang at 6.30 p.m to say .."where the hell are you, the cherub is about an hour over the thought of a BBQ." He rang back 10 minutes later and got up me- what are you waffling about,we aren't having a BBQ! I informed him that he may want to reach into the beer drenched residues and remember that he had said we would be at a BBQ at 5.30. He then said " oh ..I forgot...ring them and say we can't make it!" So I rang them while bathing the cherub...I was honest as Katie and I both have a feral cold bug and the lady having the BBQ has severe asthma and has only recently returned from a 6 week hospital stay after contracting a bad flu / cold bug. I also said apologies from hubby as he had forgotten about it and wasn't back from his fishing expedition. Well.......when I told hubby what I had said, he went of his scone. I should have just gone, I should have known not to say he had forgotten as he told me 2 days ago there was a BBQ ( never mind he had forgotten today!) He has been totally unreasonable! He got home ( in a foul mood, had a shower and went off to the BBQ. I fed the cherub, bathed her and put the cherub to bed and went F.U!!!! I have now consumed the better part of a bottle of wine and considering drinking the rest of it so that I can smack him over the head with the empty bottle so that he has a headache as big as mine in the a.m!!!!!!

Well.... Lat week I had such a sore throat for 3 days that I felt like I was swallowing broken glass and a headache that could fall a buffalo, but ... I took panadol and drank tea laced with sugar and lemon and gargled salty water and got on with it. Yesteday, hubby decided that he must be dying because his throat and head were so sore. Today he has not moved off of the couch. ( I cleaned the bathroom, vaccumed and mopped the house, did 3 loads of washing, drove 1/ and 1/2 hours to town had new tyres put on the car, went to the bank, got new shoes for the cherub, did the grocery shopping, drove home 1 1/2 hours, got home, put the groceries away, took the cherub to work for 2 hours, got home just as the power went out, fed hubby cold and flu tablets, made sandwiches for dinner by candlelight, bathed and put cherub to bed, made hubby hot tea with honey AND salty water to gargle etc.. etc.. Soo why is it when I am sick, I get nada....not one cup of tea, not a panadol offered, no time to lay feeling sorry for myself ( not even 1 hour ...never mind an ENTIRE day!) I am sure that he feels I am unsympathetic...but I am at a loss to even begin to explain why to him!

I thought the cherub had gotten back into a good sleeping pattern after our travels......... I thought wrong! I have been trying to keep her on the go to wear her out completely by the end of each day.... Dad even took her swimming for an hour and a half yesterday afternoon!!! She was awake from 1.30a.m til 5.00a.m this morning and after major hysterics climbed into bed and slept with us which is the first time this has happened since she was less than 1!! ( She always says that she wants to sleep in her OWN bed!) I don't know if this is because for a few nights while away, she slept in the same bed as me and enjoyed being cuddled up or that she is just not feeling well! I have had a bit of a tummy bug that is going around for the last day or so, but she hasn't had any symptoms, ( unless being really cranky and even cheekier than usual counts!) or it is yet just another "phase" that we will have to work through...!!!!! I just hope that she doesn't go in for a repeat performance tonight!

On the upside!!! We are catching up with a friend of mine tomorrow for a mornings scrapbooking! I haven't even looked at it since Katie got mobile nearly 3 years ago and the photo's just keep piling up...so it will be great! ( Am just putting bits together for Katie to do her own so that I might actually get a bit done!)

I have been feeling like poor Katie has been missing out a bit as I have been busy, busy, busy and she has been so good running around with me! So I thought it was time to do some fun stuff! This morning we did bubble painting which was lots of fun .......2 empty margarine containers, a good squirt of diswashing liquid in each - red food colouring in one, blue in the other. Make sure they are about half full and get 2 straws. Blow through the straw into the mixture until it bubbles up high, whack a piece of paper down on top of the bubbles- repeat with the other colour. Makes nice wrapping paper! Then when the fun wears off, take a spoonful of the mix and put it on a piece of paper and get them to blow at it through the straw until it stops running across the page. Put a spoonful of the other colour on and blow again! I then poured the left over mix into empty plastic bottles for another time! Katie loved it! Just make sure that they don't accidentally suck rather than blow on the straw!!! We practiced with a milk in a cup first- just to make sure!
