I had the very best mothers day. We were up at the crack of dawn to get to the lake for registration for the Mothers Day Classic walk. Registration was at 7 race to start at 8. Well, we get there and find parking right away. Get registered, get our shirts, and then proceed to stand around until 0930 when the walkers go to go. 7k runners went at 0830 and 3.5k runners at 9. I was a little annoyed because it didn't say that anywhere until you got there. But that aside, we had fun running around and Harrison got to play in a jumping castle, I got a mini manicure for free, and Harrison got his face painted as a tiger. He was the cutest thing I have ever seen.

He loved it and he ROAR'ed at anyone he could. The first roar he let out was to a guy who was on one knee tying his shoes. Harrison went up to him, got on all fours and ROAR'ed as loud as he could and actually scared the guy. It was hysterical.

After the walk, we went to my MIL's so she could see the tiger face. Which of course, she loved.

That afternoon, we had my MIL and her hubby, BIL his wife and 2 kids, BIL, and then of course the 5 of us. 12 of us all up. And it was a lovely day. We had a nice BBQ. I didn't have to do any of the cooking or cleaning. Neither did any of the other mother's there. Believe it or not, the boys did the cleaning. Cam did the cooking.

It was just a wonderful day. Hope you all had great days too.

Had swimming lessons today. Missed last term cuz I was too slack with the move to Perth. Anyway, started our first lesson today.

The lessons were great. They focus on water awareness and safety. A bit more focused that the ones we were in in Melbourne. Loved the ones in Melbourne and of course harrison is a bit older so he can follow directions a bit better.

To start with, they get the kids to do a safe entry into the pool. Harrison thought that was to jump in! But he caught on quickly and was following directions. Did a few activities in the very shallow water before moving into the deep end. Once there, we did some more activities such as walking down the steps, paddling with arms and kicking with legs, jumping off the ledge which Harrison loves, scooting across the wall while holding on with hands and encouraging them to pull themselves up and out of the water. Harrison kept putting his feet up first silly boy!

Once we were done, we had a bit of a play in the shallow pool and he got to play with Miles, another little boy. Who's mother took our number to have play dates...but they had a blast going down the slide and splashing in the water. It was great.

Good to have a bit of organization to our day.

Well, he peed in his potty! Except, that his penis was crooked and pointing up, he mostly peed on the floor.

But he peed in his potty! This is the first of many...Yeah! I am so proud of my little boy.

Just wanted to draw attention to ANZAC Day. I spent my first ANZAC Day in Deniliquin NSW. It was 2001 when i was visiting Dean. Dean was the guest speaker for the RSL. It was an amazing experience for me. We did a dinner at the RSL the night before Dean spoke at the dinner, the dawn service, breakfast, and then Dean spoke at the parade that day. It was really cool.

He was a tad whingy going to bed so i am hoping that was just the lack of binky that set him off. And he only got up once to call for me (which was kinda cute)

Earlier this month, we moved Harrison into a big boy bed. Up unti last night, he wasn't getting out of bed. Well, last night was the second night in a row he has woken well before morning. And while attmepting to do a little "controlled crying" in the situation, he decided he had had enough and wasn't waiting for me to come back into his room. I was dealing with him for 2 hours between the lovely hours of 0300-0500. Not happy Jan

I tried letting him cry, but that was short lived cuz he kept getting out of bed. In fact, I would take him back into his room and he was crawling out of the bed before I had even put him in it!!! I tried holding him, that didn't work cuz it was worse when I put him down. I tried sitting with him and rubbing his back/or not rubbing is back, that didn't work cuz he started talking to me telling me when it was raining, asking for dad, or the wiggles.

In the end, I was brought to tears out of exhaustion. I didn't want to wake Dean cuz he was getting up in an hour and eventually I went into the spare room, promptly followed by Harrison, and climbed in bed. He climbed in with me and we both fell asleep.

Dean is going to try to deal with it next time but he works daily. And Harrison is stubborn as hell. Any suggestions?

Oh, and if that night wasn't bad enough. Harrison woke at 0730. He is tired even stating he is tired and yet he cried for over an hour at naptime. Came out of his room. Eventually, he broke me and I just got him up.

Someone please give me the magic trick to make this toddler sleep!

I'm a bit annoyed that they aren't on top of things a bit better. I mean, hello, more money!!! I suppose I just need to be patient and not expect people to hold the same standards as me. Because if it were me, I would have called on Thursday if only to say we are still waiting. But that is just me.

Honestly,

The situation that caused the current "bickering" on this site was started by me and my questioning authority. There were quite a few people who agree with me and willing to verbally state that. And I am sure there are plenty more that do agree but feel too intimidated by other members of this site to state what they honestly feel.

Stating that there is a sheep mentality and people voting as such is totally the truth. Voting in breach JUST because ADMIN says someone is in breach is just as stupid as doing what a doctor says JUST because she is a DOCTOR. I would question a doctor for evidence and proof that some treatment is needed just as I asked Angie for proof that this member was in breach.

I don't think that is even the issue. I feel like this one member took it upon herself to make it an issue. She has chosen to blog all over Minti and "defend" admin (as if they even need it).

Angie and I have entered into communications and are dealing with the issue. Enough said.

Can the pettiness stop and crappy blogs and the low voting. It really is getting old.

And for those of you pissed off at my comment, Please Please Please feel free to take the issue up with me personally. Don't bitch behind my back. I am a big girl and can take the complaints.

Well, today is a really good day.

Saw the allergy specialist today about Harrison's allergy to peanuts and egg. Looks like his peanut allergy is likely only a skin sensitivity at the moment. His blood test came back normal or negative. YAY! And he thinks it will likely go away over time. OMG could we be any luckier! But, over the next year, we need to be vigilant about keeping him away from peanut and peanut products. Because, if he continues to come into contact, it will likely turn into a full blown allergy. So we will live the next year as if he has the allergy and avoid all products, even those that say "may contain traces or manufactured on equipment..."

As for the egg allergy, that too will likely disappear with age. His levels were about normal or borderline for allergy. Studies have shown that this level often disappears with age! How lucky can we be? So he can continue to have the cakes and such but will avoid (like we always have) anything with whole egg, raw egg, or egg in large quantities.

We will have an epipen which doesn't bother me at all. In fact, I will feel better for having it. Rather have it and never use it than not have it and need it.

And to top off my day, I pretty much have a job. YAY! I applied for a job at Fremantle Hospital and she has all but told me I am hired. Got a rave review from my former boss in Canberra and am awaiting referal from my old boss in Melbourne but she was happy to just go with the one from the girl in Canberra! I will be only doing 2 days a week which is fantastic. And I am sure there will be opportunity to do more if there is sick calls or leave and I feel like working.

So I am feeling pretty happy today.

On a sad note, some of you know about IVF and that Dean and I were trying to get pregnant last year, well, we started again and my first cycle I didn't get pregnant. Disappointed but will try again. Harrison needs a baby brother or sister.

Well, for some time now I have been fearful that Harrison was allergic to eggs and peanuts (of all things!). Well, I was going to have him tested before going to the US but since we moved and all, I thought it best to wait until we got to Perth.

So took Harrison yesterday to the pediatric allergy specialist and he tested Harrison for 28 different types of food allergies. And Harrison was so good. He just sat on my lap watching the doctor draw the grid, place 28 drops of fluid on his are, and then proceed to scratch/prick his arm 28 times. He didn't make a noise, try to pull away or cry. He just watched, my good little boy.

We waited 10-15 min and went back in and sure enough, allergic response to the egg and peanut. Egg was worse than the peanut. So he sent us for bloods to see if we need to own an epi/adrenaline pen in case of anaphalxysis!

So I thought Harrison might be ok with the blood work. He was until they put the needle in his arm (and had hit the vein first try). Then he cried and jerked away, the needle had come out of the vein and skin so they had to restick. Poor thing. He went dark red in the face crying hard and was almost inconsoable. Stickers didn't work, cuddles didn't work, but alas, the chocolate did. He even said goodbye to the girls. Cried a bit when we got home cuz we took the cotton ball and tape off so that hurt but he got to take mine off (I had blood work done too) so it was ok.

Anyway, I am so upset about the peanut allergy. That one people don't grow out of. At this point, it isn't lethal. He only gets a mild rash around his mouth but the scary thing is that at any time, it can become a lethal reaction. Thats what worries me. The egg thing, well, he has eaten cakes and stuff and as long as it isn't like egg by itself, he seems fine. We can deal with that. That one he can grow out of. Hopefully.

Anyway, just wanted to vent. On a positive note, Harrison has self weaned from breast feeding...YAY!

Adios Amigos...Angela

Had a really nice afternoon. It was lovely in Perth. Harrison had a ball playing with Ella and his cousins. It was a pretty laid back afternoon.
