You are all guessing because of her enthusiasm that she is 5 or 6. No. Maybe 18 or 21 a very special birthday. All wrong again, She is 22 today and we get this every year LOL. When she was about 4 one of her aunties forgot Amy's birthday so when we saw her aunt she went up to her and said "It was my birthday November the 20th" So out came auntie's purse and gave her some money. Since then her aunty ( My sister ) has always called her name " November the 20th " so she never forgets Amy's birthday.Yesterday Helen told me there is a card in the post from her aunt, so all will be well LOL

Happy Birthday Amy from Nan and Grandad. I have seen Jakob and Emily singing to you from Iceland

Love Pauline

With dinner in the oven, table all laid as usual, so we would be all ready to eat at 1 o' clock.. Off we set in the car, we like to be there early, our morning service starts at 10-45am.A friend of ours took the service and was good too. We were home again by12-30pm.

Then the phone rang and I recognised who the caller was and asked about the foot operation he had this week. However it sounded to me his foot was unimportant, so I was wondering what was coming. Then came the shock. A friend of ours who was at another church, had collapsed and died there in the presence of the congregation, his wife and some of his family were also there, he was in his sixties and a great asset to our community and of course will be sorely missed.

I'm asking for prayer for his lovely wife and family at this time, I know he has gone to a better place but we will all miss him

Thanks

Love Pauline

On Monday morning my husband, son and grandson left at 5-45 am drove to Portsmouth to go across to Cherbourg on the Ferry, their reason for this trip was to go to see the Normandy landings. Thomas is doing this for his GCSE's so we all thought this would be helpful to him. They came back full of their trip and had a great time. After lunch Helen and Daniel came and we had a couple of hours shopping then had dinner together at my home.

Tuesday, I had a very quiet day as Helen had planned to take Daniel to London Zoo and so I didn't see them until 9pm when Helen returned to collect Thomas. They all came into the house almost together so the place was buzzing Daniel trying to tell all about the Zoo and the others piping in about their trip to France, I gathered they all had a lovely day.

Yesterday we had relatives here for the day and of course they wanted to see the boys so Helen and the boys came after lunch.Talk about rain ,it teemed really heavy the whole day so we were so glad the boys set up the Wii and entertained us all the afternoon with the games and we laughed as Helen beat them with the hula hoop twisting and turning like a spinning top, I bet she is suffering today !!!!!!! Another good game they love is the 10 pin bowling and the boys are good at it, but the laughter comes when we older ones attempt it especially me. My co ordination, sorry what co-ordination !!!!!!!!!!!Daniel has the patience of Job trying to teach ME lol. As a teenager I was a gymnast but age does take over in time.

Love to you all

I must confess I was cheering for Andy Roddick as he lost to Federer twice before in Wimbledon Finals. Yesterday's Final seemed as if it would go on forever. Then at 16 games to 14 in the fifth set the cheer went up and a very excited Roger Federer was jumping up and down, whilst a dejected and disappointed Andy Roddick looked sooooo sad.

Don't tell young busy mums they haven't time to do it !!!!!!! They actually drew huge animals on hardboard, cut them out painted them then made outfits for seven or eight little ones from Sunday school all animals.Four young mums and two grandmas were dressed in African costumes mostly handmade. Dads couldn't be left out and they were explorers. The float was driven round the village ending at the village fete. Imagine our immense pleasure when they were awarded First Prize and presented with a shield to keep for a year, The day ended with a church barbecue and we were all thankful the day remained fine and no rain

Today is a very special date for me as it iwould have been my dear mum's birthday. She is no longer with us but will never be forgotten. She was a most wonderful mum caring for her eight children. I have five sisters and two brothers and when she passed away in 2005 she had 25 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren, another three great grandchidren have been added since. In her teens she was a nanny, and never worked once she was married. I wouldn't dare suggest she didn't work, we hardly ever saw her not working in the house. I well remember when several of us were left school and employed whatever times we were home for our meals there was always one ready on the table. When I was 10 ( I was the eldest ) she had seven of us 10 and under.

When I was 18 there was great excitement in our house when we were told another baby was on the way. Doctor had told mum it was her age but she had been certain herself that she was pregnant. `she should know shouldn't she? All of us were thrilled and our new baby sister was welcomed and she is still precious to us now.

Dad died in 1988 and mum and dad had celebrated their Golden wedding with a big party in 1985

I hope you can all see why Mum and Dad's birthdays are still remembered by us all and are still so special

Thankyou to those of you who have reaf this

The phonecall went on to say "There has been an earthquake in Iceland " I calmed down as soon as she continued "All is well" Most of you will be aware that my son lives there with his wife Sylvia and two children Jakob 5 and Emily 2. Our grandaughter is with them too on holiday. Anyway other than they were a bit frightened, I was very glad to hear that they were all OK. Amy tells us it measured 4-5 on the Richter scale. and so I am thanking God that they are all safe and well.

I was so pleased to see Simon ,my son, waiting for us at Keflavik airport. He lives not far from the airport and we were soon with them all Sylvia and two very excited grandchildren Jakob and Emily. Her lovely neat and tidy home soon looked more like a toy shop as they wanted to show us everything. They were also keen to see what was in our cases and eagerly helped me to unpack!! On the Sunday it was Jakob's birthday party and all his relatives in Iceland came at 3-30 pm and a lovely meal was shared by us all. (This was on the 3rd. and his birthday was the 8th) His birthday cake was made in the shape of K9 from Dr. Who and was delicious

No darkness in Iceland at this time of the year or maybe an hour or so of darkness when we were asleep, I didn't see any !!!!! On the Wednesday Simon intended to walk up to the top of the high mountain with his dad. I'm so glad he didn't want me to go. About two thirds of the way up my husband couldn't cope with the deep snow and big boulders so he thought it wise to stop but Simon continued and reached the top. They did enjoy it very much and came back to the hott pools and jaccuzzis to relax. Of course I needed to relax too. The children love the water and we all went in.

We took the children to a Vikings exhibition and Grandad was allowed to take Jakob aboard a replica, full size, long boat, whiich was actually built in Iceland by an Icelander, and he actually proved that Vikings could sail across to America in such a boat. It was very interesting and we enjoyed it so much. This was as a treat for Jakob on his actual birthday.

We were so pleased to spend time with our lovely family and it was a sad farewell to them when we had to leave. As we were flying early on the Saturday morning the goodbyes to Jakob and Emily were said on the Friday night........a bit sad!!!!!!! and the only tears were as Simon left us at the air port to go home and probably back to bed as it was 5-45 A.M.

Love to you all

A very happy birthday Jakob, we have of course sang it to him several times already, and 2yr. old Emily has sang it to him in English and Icelandic.

We have had a great week here in iceland with them all and i can now quite see why Sylvia finds it difficult to get on minti.

Will be back soon, we arrive in the U.K. at lunchtime tomorrow

I can't believe it is May already but as many of you know tomorrow I am off to see my family in ICELAND.

Simon and Sylvia (my son and daughter in law) live there with their two childrenJakob 4 and Emily 2, so you will know how excited I am to be going to see them. Many of you are possibly saying " I knew that already " as I know I have mentioned it to lots of you.

I will miss minti but will try to catch up as they do have a computer. Jakob is going to be 5 whilst we are there so we know there is a big party for him on Sunday with all his Icelandic family and it will only be my husband and I from England. the Icelanders are very family orientated and all Jakob's aunties, uncles, cousins and grandparents who live there wil attend.

It is fascinating to hear Jakob and Emily speaking to all in the two languages that is because Simon still speaks to them in english and Sylvia in Icelandic. Sylvia also speaks in two or three other languages and her english is better than mine !!!!!!!!

When Jakob was about three I asked Simon to say something to him in Icelandic and at once Jakob looked at his dad and lovingly said "No , you just be my daddy " and ran giving him a big cuddle. It was lovely.

I do hope you will all have a good week, think of me with two children jumping on our bed as soon as they wake in the mornings but we won't mind at all

Love to you all

We left on Friday about 2 p.m. for our trip to Devon. We lived in Devon 23 years ago so we have many friends there. and it was so good to see them and a lovely meal was all ready for us. We had much to catch up on but we were tired so it was off to bed around 11pm, On Saturday we shopped in Crediton before visiting the lovely garden centre and purchased a few garden plants. After a lovely lunch we were keen to see our friend's Barn Conversion, which was very much improved since we last saw it last September. They had moved in with their three little girls just before Christmas. They still have a bit to do with the garden but I'm convinced it has been difficult to live in a caravan with three children especially as it has been a cold winter. On Sunday morning my husband took the service. Then when we got back from church a huge farmhouse table was laid and twelve of us sat down to Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding etc etc etc etc. It was a really warm sunny day. My husband took evening service and then more friends came back after ,it was great to see friends we hadn't seen for a long while

We left early this morning and arrived home lunchtime, very tired

I must confess I did miss you all as there was no computer !!!!!!!!!!
