We didn't finally get the party done at the park (we lost our money on hiring the gazebo....) but we decided to have it at home because of the rain. We had a great barbecue, the kids still had their fun playing around...and my effort of baking the "betty crocker" cake at 6am was paid for. At the end, no matter where you are as long as we all happy that's all matter.

So, here the cake I made for my daughter.

Do people think Minti is a place to compete?

I've been in Minti for about 10 months or so. First time I was here, I found Minti is an interesting place....place to share/exchange some parenting experiences in order to learn from other people mistakes or success to make us a better parents for our children. But somehow, lately I found a lot of people got hurt as well. I suppose when something growing you can't only get something better, but you might find some people get hurt too. I found lot of members seem thought that Minti is a place to compete, to show that they're better than other parent. They blame the voting system, they blame other member who don't have the same opinions with them.

I'm not a saint or even counselor. But I could only share my thoughts that here at Minti we are not competing with anybody. Those voting are only the way we said that we agree or not with your way of thinking, but then again it doesn't mean that you are better or worse than other members. Each member have their rights to stand up on their own opinions as long as it doesn't abuse the different opinions of others.

I knew, we only human, we make mistakes, we could be stubborn,.....but again we could also try to live in harmony, apologize for our mistakes or accept other people apology. Come on, we come here to make friends and to help each other. We come here free, none of us being paid or anything to participate in Minti. I'm sure the Minti team are appreciating your participation in all kind of ways (the good and polite manner ways, of course). Giving good example for new members to be, and don't scare those new members either.

Anyway, I just hope that I could open a little bit of your humanity heart. Be nice to each other, and don't worry much about the voting. Like I said, and like some of us here believe that we're here to share and NOT TO COMPETE.

Have a good day everyone.

It's funny when sometime you saw yourself as the reflection of your mother. Not that I said my mother is good or bad. I always think my mother's motherly side is the best, in the ways of brought us up and cared for us till we stood up on our own feet.

I never thought that I would do what my mother did to us. But some other times, I've been doing what she has done years ago. For example this morning. I woke up at 6am, started with prepared a milk bottle for my youngest child, then prepared some stuff to be cooked for my husband lunch, since he had to leave the house at 7.15am for some early meeting in town. Then I had to get myself ready for morning and my kids ready for starting the day. Then prepared some lunch for my son to bring to school. By 8.30am, myself, my son and my daughter walked to my son's school.

I am a morning person. I have full dedication to my loving family. If I could do such things for them I feel my own accomplishment as a mother, a wife....and a person who loves to become a mother and wife.

I've been through some experiences or saw or read some people tried to give some of worthy advices to others. I found some people knew how to give the right advices at the right context and right time. Some could be just as pushy as they could be. For me giving advice is more like passing some opinions. Whether the person who receive the advice will take it or not, that his/her decision. Some advice givers could be so iron hands, he/she might not happy if we have different opinion with them. Sometime I would just thought....'hey...it's my life..I'm the one who will deal with it...so beat it, let me decide what best for me...and thanks for giving some words in my head'.

My mum once said life (or giving advice) was like playing with kite. You can't pull the string to hard, otherwise you might cut it off and loose the kite (the person you care), or you can't just let the string let loose. All also depends with the wind how hard and where it blows (which is more indicating the influences of life situation).

So, when I try to comment of people I would think first, find the right words and the right moment and be prepared that this person might not taking any words I've said. At the end it's their decision for their life. With that, I also wish that whoever try to give me some piece of words, I would appreciate if she/her wouldn't be so pushy. Sometime this forced opinion could do more harm than help. Instead you making closer relationship you might breaking it.

Anyway....this thing just came up on my mind. I though I would share piece of thought with you all. Whatever your opinion about this, I rest that on your hand.

Have a good weekend all.

No matter you grow older, this craving could always come (oh well at least to me). So, here I am, craving (but not pregnancy craving...LOL) of one of my mum's cooking. You could find anywhere at any restaurant that have the same taste. What do I do? Oh well....I just have to get the recipe from my lovely mother and try to cook it the best I could. Luckily, today I could get the taste. Not too bad for a person like me who never cooked while living with my mum ages ago.
5 minutes ago I got this guy tried to sell like a mobile phone plan and asked my how much I spent a month on mobile phone. I said in we spend for X amount but since we're in cap plan we only pay half of it. And this guy started crapped on about he could give better deal. I said 'No, thanks we're pretty happy with what we had'. He just couldn't take my answer.

So, I came up with this "Well, we waited for iPhone from Apple Mac to come on the market. We're planning to change our mobile to iPhone. So till now, we wouldn't change our plan or our mobile."
I think after he heard about Apple Mac, he didn't bother to push me to listen to his stuff anymore.

Woo hoo....

It's been like 2 or 3 years that we've been doing this, my son has a money box and we only let him opened it on his birthday which was on boxing day (26 December). It's amazing how much money you could put away/saving for as little as $2/week. Last year (2006) we counted that he got $100. We've said to him that he could spend $50 for anything that he really wanted and saved $50 toward his saving account in the bank*. He was so excited and he chose to get another star wars transformer (Jango Fett one).

This year, I'm starting to do the same thing for my daughter as well. We will do the same thing that both of them will allow to open their money box and the end of year.

*note: After we counted all the coins at home, and put them in separate bags, My son and I went to the bank and change the coins to paper money. He was so proud to get a $50 note (since we put the other $50 to his bank account).

It's holiday, I feel a bit busy with both kids full time at home...LOL. Ho ho...I love them, but as a normal person, sometime I need my quite times as well. Anyhow, we had good christmas day. The foods from Willow Pond were a bit disappointment, but then I suppose Christmas or any other festive day are not only about the foods, it's more being together with family. Spending a lovely day with them, away from crazy busy routines.

Hubby offered to host the Christmas at our place next year...for the first time ever. I didn't mind at all....specially would be lots more easier with the kids.....and the foods. Special request from MIL and her sister....they wanted my special spring rolls....and hubby wanted my chilli prawns. I guess I'd be cooking like a storm.

This holiday, I started reading again. My first book was The Rescue by Nicholas Spark. It's about a woman named Denise who has a boy who was a bit late in speech. She struggled in her life and met this man named Taylor who was trying to conquer his own fear. Anyway, it has happy ending. But by reading this story, I thought and felt like how lucky I am with my life and family.

My second book is Feel by Chris Heath. It's more like documentary about Robbie Williams. I haven't finish yet. I got this book as anniversary gift from hubby. Well we both agree to buy each other book. I got him Into the Dark Realm by Raymond Feist. Anyway, back to "Feel" the book, it's funny it's interesting to get to know about Robbie's life. But also make us realize that money can't buy your happiness. Looking forward to finish this book sometime this holiday.....if only the kids give me rest. LOL.

Alright...I better go. Need to pick up hubby and then go to airport to pick up his daughter.
