Yesterday he had a fever of 102.6, which spiked to 103 not 5 minutes later. I was in Panicked Mommie mode. I borrowed Sarah and Jamey's truck and hauled my hind-end to the Hospital, where Alec was seen almost immediately. Thank goodness for new facilities!! He has a bad ear infection in his left ear and is on a 10-day antibiotic regimen. His ear is already draining, thankfully, he is smiling this morning, and he slept a full 12 hours last night, uninterrupted. Whew!! Spring is almost here. I'm exceedingly glad of that!!

Sarah and family arrived yesterday at 12:45 p.m. EST. After taking them up to see their new home, which they absolutely love (relieved!!), she and her two sons and I went to lunch across the street while Jamey, her husband, began unloading the trailer. Afterward, I grabber her 9-year-old, Jerod, and we went to pick Alec up from the school bus stop. Jerod and I had an Awesome snowball war, hahaha. They rarely get snow in Vegas, and watching his smile and hearing that infectious giggle was great!! Once Alec had arrived, we went back and I helped unload some more while the 3 boys played together (I overdid it, and those who really know me will shake their heads and say I always do). I made dinner for everyone around 6 p.m. and Roger came home from work at 8 p.m. and helped get the heavy stuff upstairs. Once Alec was fallen asleep, I left the monitor up in our apartment and walked next door (They are next door!!! They are really here!!!). We 4 adults hung out just talking and laughing and et cetera until midnight. Whew! Today, after we are all loaded with nicotine and caffeine, hahaha, Sarah and I are driving the trailer to Buffalo to return it and then going shopping. It promises to be a grand adventure. *grins*

YAY!!! (I'm still very bouncy and smiling like a cheshire cat)

My friend Sarah and her family decided to move here (to New York from Las Vegas) in March instead of waiting until August, and WEE!! has it been nuts. Hahaha! I found them an apartment which is 2 doors away from mine, gave her husband a huge list of job leads, gave her the phone numbers and web addresses of the utility companies, and then some. Right now they are halfway here, having stopped in North Dakota to visit her cousin and retrieve some of her belongings from the cousin's basement. They will be leaving her cousin's place tomorrow and driving out here, in New York. YAY!!! *dancing around*

Alec is doing Fantastically with the help of an Aide in the classroom. He gets all his set work done every day, which is phenomenal. She is very soft-spoken and her eyes are So kind. I liked her instantly. It always amazes me how well things fall into place if you just close your eyes, breathe, and wait for it.

Have to take Little Man to the school bus. The running never stops, does it? *grins*
Today is my Dad's birthday, and Saturday is my son's birthday!! The little man is turning 8 years old. Whew! Time absolutely flies when we aren't looking, doesn't it?

In other news, my friend Sarah and her husband and their 2 boys are moving from Las Vegas to be our next-door neighbors! She doesn't want to raise her boys in such a hostile environemtn as Vegas, for which I don't blame her a bit. The boys are ages 9 and 4, so Alec has built-in playmates!! This will be so fantastic, for us all. *dancing around*

Alec began his therapy and it is going Really well! He spends an hour with his therapist every 2 weeks, and she is not only helping him, but she is helping me. The psychiatrist whom he will be seeing requires an EKG, EEG, and blood work before the initial visit, which is Wonderful!! There is nothing better than a health professional who is super-cautious with our kids! All of that is to be scheduled.

Off to brave the 10-degree cold as we trudge to the bus stop. Wee!!

Alec begins his psychotherapy on January 23rd, which I am jazzed about! For 3 years I have been fighting the system, trying to not only get him on some sort of medication regimen which would benefit him, but also see that he be seen by a therapist, regularly, in order to help him with behaviors that, for him, must be learned, but which, for most people, are inherent. I have so much hope for his future. Yay!

On another happy note, Roger got a promotion at work, which has him grinning from ear to ear. Things continue to look up. Life may throw me curve balls, but I am handy with a bat. *laugh*

The doctor I spoke with thinks I may have been carrying twins, due to how much of an onslaught of hormones I had and so on. My body just isn't physically capable of carrying twins right now, so it is for the best. My heart hurts, but I'll be fine. I have wonderful support.

I promised myself that I would continue to try, even though doctors told me that I might never carry another child full-term, due to my Endometriosis being so severe.

(drum-roll please)

I am 5 weeks pregnant!! *grins* I am by No means out of the woods, yet, as most of my miscarriages happen in the first trimester. But Roger has been wonderful in his pampering me and letting me sleep in on the weekend, and Alec is just lit up with excitement! My intuition screams that it's a girl, and my body is screaming due to all the changes. Oy!

The best bit? We conceived on our wedding night, and the baby is due on September 7th. Roger considers this to be his Christmas present, however belated, and Alec considers it to be his 8th birthday present, a bit early. (his birthday is January 27th)

I would do a dance of joy, but between nausea, fatigue, running to the bathroom every 20 minutes, like clockwork, and wanting to saw off my mammary glands for the discomfort...heh...not today.

Sure enough, he got off the school bus Friday afternoon and I had to carry him home. Poor little man has had fevers, mild nasal congestion, minimal coughing, and intermittent vomiting since. I'm alternating tylenol and advil, every 3-4 hours, giving him lukewarm baths each time the fever spikes a bit, and he has been munching on saltine crackers and drinking lots and lots of water. At night, I've been giving him half a tblsp of children's Nyquil, just to ease the congestion a bit, plus putting a dab of Vick's vaporub beneath his nose and on his feet and chest. He's getting better. Today there is no school due to Columbus Day observations, and until he has been 24 hours without a fever, I am keeping him home. We don't want to make anyone else sick.
