The Wooden Bowl

I guarantee you will remember this tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a

I guarantee you will remember this tale of the Wooden Bowl tomorrow, a
week from now, a month from now, a year from now.

A frail old man went to live with his son, daughter-in-law, and
four-year old grandson. The old man's hands trembled, his eyesight was
blurred, and his step faltered. The family ate together at the table.
But the elderly grandfather's shaky hands and failing sight made
eating difficult. Peas rolled off his spoon onto the floor. When he grasped
the glass, milk spilled on the tablecloth.

The son and daughter-in-law became irritated with the mess. "We
must do something about father," said the son. "I've had enough of his
spilled milk, noisy eating, and food on the floor." So the husband and wife
set a small table in the corner. There, grandfather ate alone while the rest
of the family enjoyed dinner. Since Grandfather had broken a dish or two,
his food was served in a wooden bowl!

When the family glanced in Grandfather's direction, sometime he had a
tear in his eye as he sat alone. Still, the only words the couple had for
him were sharp admonitions when he dropped a fork or spilled food.

The four-year-old watched it all in silence.
One evening before supper, the father noticed his son playing
with wood scraps on the floor. He asked the child sweetly, "What are you
making son?"

Just as sweetly, the boy responded, "Oh, I am making a little bowl for
you and Mama to eat your food in when I grow up." The four-year-old
smiled and went back to work.
The words so struck the parents so that they were speechless. Then tears
started to stream down their cheeks. Though no word was spoken, both
knew what must be done.

That evening the husband took Grandfather's hand and gently led
him back to the family table. For the remainder of his days he ate every
meal
with the family. And for some reason, neither husband nor wife seemed to
care any longer when a fork was dropped, milk spilled, or the tablecloth
soiled.
Sent to me by my grandmother written by I dont know
On that note, I've learned that, no matter what happens, how bad
it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow.
I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way
he/she handles three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled
Christmas tree lights.
I've learned that, regardless of your relationship with your parents,
you'll miss them when they're gone from your life.
I've learned that making a "living" is not the same thing as making a
"life."
I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance.
I've learned that you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt
on both hands. You need to be able to throw something back.
I've learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. But, if you
focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work and doing
the very best you can, happiness will find you.
I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart,
I usually make the right decision.
I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one.
I've learned that every day, you should reach out and touch someone.
People love that human touch -- holding hands, a warm hug, or
just a friendly pat on the back.
I've learned that I still have a lot to learn.
I've
learned thatyoushouldpassthisontoeveryoneyoucare aboutI just did.

last night I put skylar in her cot and went to bed... now hubby only sleeps in the spare room if Skylar is in bed with me cause he is worried about rolling over on to her and accidently killing her... Cause he still suffers night terrors after al these years... What I cant figure out how is when I woke up I was holding Skylar... hubby says she was in our bed all night wich is why I found him in the spare bed this morning... But I dont remember picking her up... I know I go to bed long before hubby but if he did not put her in bed with me wich he wouldnt because he and i dont want her getting used to sleeping with mummy...(she has her own room)... Then did I? I dont know.... I am so confused... This happened a few weeks ago as well... and hubby made a point of telling me he does not want her in our bed... he did not get cranky or anything he just told me how he felt about not only co sleeping but if she were to climb in our bed when she is older and how little privacy we would get....

sheesh now i am rambling... sorry guys... I must be nuts!!!!!

I have blog twice posted numerous jokes answered questions sent email asked question and spent 10 hours on here all in between playing with bubs feeding bubs giving her numerous baths to cool down... i even fed her whilst sitting at the computer...

I have not accomplished much today at all I am just gllad that hubby keeps up to date with the house work for me...

He is forever telling me you take care of bubs and i take care of the house and that leaves me lost whenever she is asleep as he says you relax darling let me do this... Dont get me wrong i love our arrangement and he still spends plenty of time with her but i am getting real bored real quickly 1 baby is not enough of a challenge i want more...

and if by some chance skylar does drive me nuts he takes over... the only thing he does not do is change pooey nappies.. wet ones are fine...

I do cook dinners though as cooking is a stress relief for me... and i love being creative... I have also added a new chapter to my novel that i am writing... but i can only spend so much time doing that because even though i have the plot already i still get burnt out trying to write it and make it interesting for the reader... I made the bed before he could beat me to it and he told me off saying i need to relax more as a well rested mum is a good mum...

oh well boy do i luv my hubby

>> Then he told the following story:
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay and his father had walked past a park where
>>some boys Shay knew were
>>
>> Playing baseball. Shay asked, "Do you think
>>they'll let me play?"
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay's father knew that most of the boys would
>>not want someone like Shay on
>>
>> Their team, but the father also understood that
>>if his son were allowed to
>>
>> Play, it would give him a much-needed sense of
>>belonging and some confidence
>>
>> To be accepted by others in spite of his
>>handicaps.
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay's father approached one of the boys on the
>>field and asked (not
>>
>> Expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy
>>looked around for guidance and
>>
>> Said, "We're losing by six runs and the game is
>>in the eighth inning. I
>>
>> Guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put
>>him in to bat in the ninth
>>
>> Inning."
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay struggled over to the team's bench and,
>>with a broad smile, put on a
>>
>> Team shirt. His Father watched with a small tear
>>in his eye and warmth in
>>
>> His heart. The boys saw the father's joy at his
>>son being accepted. In the
>>
>> Bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored
>>a few runs but was still
>>
>> Behind by three. In the top of the ninth inning,
>>Shay put on a glove and
>>
>> Played in the right field. Even though no hits
>>came his way, he was
>>
>> Obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and
>>
>> On the field, grinning from ear to ear as his
>>father waved to him from the
>>
>> Stands. In the bottom of the ninth inning,
>>Shay's team scored again. Now,
>>
>> With two outs and the bases loaded, the
>>potential winning run was on base
>>
>> And Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.
>>
>>
>>
>> At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give
>>away their chance to win the
>>
>> Game? Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat.
>>Everyone knew that a hit was all
>>
>> But impossible because Shay didn't even know how
>>to hold the bat properly,
>>
>> Much less connect with the ball.
>>
>>
>>
>> However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the
>>pitcher, recognizing that the
>>
>> Other team was putting winning aside for this
>>moment in Shay's life, moved
>>
>> In a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay
>>could at least make
>>
>> Contact. The first pitch came and Shay swung
>>clumsily and missed. The
>>
>> Pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss
>>the ball softly towards Shay.
>>
>>
>>
>> As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and
>>hit a slow ground ball
>>
>> Right back to the pitcher.
>>
>>
>>
>> The game would now be over. The pitcher picked
>>up the soft grounder and
>>
>> Could have easily thrown the ball to the first
>>baseman. Shay would have been
>>
>> Out and that would have been the end of the
>>game.
>>
>>
>>
>> Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over
>>the first baseman's head, out
>>
>> Of reach of all team mates. Everyone from the
>>stands and both teams started
>>
>> yelling, "Shay, run to first! Run to first!"
>>
>>
>>
>> Never in his life had Shay ever run that far,
>>but he made it to first base.
>>
>> He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and
>>startled.
>>
>>
>>
>> Everyone yelled, "Run to second, run to second!"
>>
>>
>>
>> Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards
>>second, gleaming and
>>
>> struggling to make it to the base. By the time
>>Shay rounded towards second
>>
>> base, the right fielder had the ball .. The
>>smallest guy on their team who
>>
>> now had his first chance to be the hero for his
>>team. He could have thrown
>>
>> the
>>
>> ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he
>>understood the
>>
>> pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally
>>threw the ball high
>>
>> and far over the third-baseman's head. Shay ran
>>toward third base
>>
>> deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled
>>the bases toward home.
>>
>>
>>
>> All were screaming, "Shay, Shay, Shay, all the
>>Way Shay"
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay reached third base because the opposing
>>shortstop ran to help him by
>>
>> turning him in the direction of third base, and
>>shouted, "Run to third!
>>
>> Shay, run to third!"
>>
>>
>>
>> As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams,
>>and the spectators, were on
>>
>> their feet screaming, "Shay, run home! Run
>>home!"
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was
>>cheered as the hero who hit
>>
>> the grand slam and won the game for his team.
>>
>>
>>
>> "That day", said the father softly with tears
>>now rolling down his face,
>>
>> "the boys from both teams helped bring a piece
>>of true love and humanity
>>
>> into this world".
>>
>>
>>
>> Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died
>>that winter, having never
>>
>> forgotten being the hero and making his father
>>so happy, and coming home and
>>
>> seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little
>>hero of the day!
>>
>>
>>
>>
>>
>> AND NOW A LITTLE FOOTNOTE TO THIS STORY: We all
>>send thousands of jokes
>>
>> through the e-mail without a second thought, but
>>when it comes to sending
>>
>> messages about life choices, people hesitate.
>>The crude, vulgar, and often
>>
>> obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but
>>public
>>
>> discussion about decency is too often suppressed
>>in our schools and
>>
>> workplaces.
>>
>>
>>
>> If you're thinking about forwarding this
>>message, chances are that you're
>>
>> probably sorting out the people in your address
>>book who aren't the
>>
>> "appropriate" ones to receive this type of
>>message. Well, the person who
>>
>> sent you this believes that we all can make a
>>difference. We all have
>>
>> thousands of opportunities every single day to
>>help realize the "natural
>>
>> order of things." So many seemingly trivial
>>interactions between two people
>>
>> present us with a choice: Do we pass along a
>>little spark of love and
>>
>> humanity or do we pass up those opportunities
>>and leave the world a little
>>
>> bit colder in the process?
>>
>>
>>
>> A wise man once said every society is judged by
>>how it treats it's least
>>
>> fortunate amongst them.
>>
>>
>>
>> You now have two choices:
>>
>> 1. Delete
>>
>> 2. Forward
>>
>>
>>
>> May your day, be a Shay Day

There is some damn good advice out there that is not getting seen because some minti high and mighty self f***ing rightous minti members do not agree with it.... It is not copy writed has no rude words and is parenting advice but.... because it is too short and sweet or because they dont agree they either report it or put it down before it gets out... Advice is advice... if they dont agree they can give it a 1 or 2 star rating and express their opinion once it is in the advice column rather than stop it from appearing all together...

Also i would like to know why there is one rule for most minti members but the top ones have different rule...

A long while ago i posted advice on giving advice but it got reported because it was too short and sweet and because they thought it should go into my blog or into the writing advice group (I did not have a problem with this I learnt and moved on)... and now i go looking on minti in the advice section and i see 1 of the top members writing advice on the best spell checker program they can use with minti... whilst it is good advice it is NOT parenting advice... and therefore should not be there... but what can i do if i report it it will be back there in a matter of a couple hours....

I am sick of the double standards and i am sorry if i offend some minti members but enough is enough... I ahve a right mind to leave minti if I dont see some form of improvement soon...

well it has been 2 weeks since I have been in here and a lot has happened.
I have been to nonstop functions so I can learn how to grow my business whilst they are fun and motivating ( I mean VERY motivating) they arent neccessary (Just makes things alittle easier thats all).

Also Skylar had gastro again . But shes better now. Her first teeth have started to come through and little miss I want to be different got her back teeth first .

I also started Skylar on farax rice cereal today. I was very hesitant as she is only three and a half month old but after talking to lots of poeple who reckon she has all the signs of a baby ready to start eating rather than drinking and a week of restless nights and days with her being constantly hungry and upgrading her feeds to 220 mil bottles 6 times a day i figured i better start.

oh and on friday my brother is having his 18th birthday party so my daughters great grandparents are going to baby sit whilst i go party with him. He is also introducing his girlfriend to the family. plus he has already met her parents to so it must be serious hmmm.... I wonder if skylar may gain an aunt or a cousin lol

OH yeah I forgot the most important news of all SKYLAR SAID HER FIRST WORD AND IT WAS DAD Soooo....... not impressed why couldn't it be mum LOL

And I can't take advantage of the situation cause I am still currently holding her and rocking her off to sleep. Poor baby has reflux!

things I have learned about life

Life has it ups and downs just like a roller coaster ride... However unlike a roller coaster it is not predictable... you never finish where you started... every time you do something you learn something new like remembering to use your breaks on the bike when going down a steap hill!

Life has it ups and downs just like a roller coaster ride... However unlike a roller coaster it is not predictable... you never finish where you started... every time you do something you learn something new like remembering to use your breaks on the bike when going down a steap hill! (ouch)

Whilst life may be difficult at times you can always pull through and achieve something new!

I have also learnt you need to enjoy every minute of it because you only live once and it is not realy all that long!

Don't worry about how embarassing something maybe just as long as you enjoyed the experience and even if you didn't it wont be long till its yesterdays news!

The most important thing that I have learned about life is it just keeps going. It doesn't wait for you to catch up or till your ready. It doesn't stop because your having a crisis, it just keeps going and because of this I have decided procrastination is just a waste of precious time that could be spent enjoying it.
