			<title>Taking a break, but keep an eye on the calendar</title>

			<description>I&amp;#8217;ll be taking a break from posting to this blog for a while (ok, I&amp;#8217;d already started..!)
There&amp;#8217;s not much happening (big events) now it&amp;#8217;s nearly winter, but keep an eye on the Kids in Perth Event Calendar - http://kids.enjoyperth.net/kids-event-calendar/ for the odd event.
Hopefully I&amp;#8217;ll be back posting what&amp;#8217;s on for the July School Holidays&amp;#8230;but don&amp;#8217;t expect too much&amp;#8230;

<p><a href="http://www.wasbc.com.au/">WA Speed Boat racing State Titles</a> on the Burswood Water (park around Burswood) on Sunday from 10 till 4pm.</p>
<p>The monthly <a href="http://www.whitemanpark.com/" target="_blank">Tractor Parade at Whiteman Park</a> is from 1.30pm, it&#8217;s a free event.</p>
<p>By the way, <a href="http://www.whitemanpark.com/attractions/whatson-event.asp?event_id=177" target="_blank">Thomas the Tank Engine Day</a> is soon, Sunday 20 May (so next weekend, hmm, same day as the RSPCA Million Paws Walk). Most local libraries have free holiday sessions, often including craft activities. <p>Most local libraries have free holiday sessions, often including craft activities. <p>The <a href="http://www.pacs.org.au/allabout/ourneighbourhood.html#perthCulturalCentre" target="_blank">Perth Cultural Centre</a> (in the city, on the Northbridge side of the train station) includes the <a href="http://www.liswa.wa.gov.au/schoolhols.html" target="_blank">WA State Library</a>, the <a href="http://www.artgallery.wa.gov.au/events_programs/family.asp#holidays" target="_blank">WA Art Gallery</a> and the <a href="http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/oursites/perth/whatson.asp" target="_blank">WA Museum</a>. These all have different children&#8217;s activities, most free.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.perth.wa.gov.au/html/visitors.php?section=attractions&amp;title=April+School+Holidays+%96+City+Playground+Pass&amp;date=2007-04-10" target="_blank">The City of Perth Playground Pass</a> includes the activities in the Cultural Centre, plus more, and discounts for various things throughout the city.</p>
<p>Also check out the <a href="http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/oursites/maritime/whatson.asp" target="_blank">Fremantle Maritime Museum, Shipwreck Galleries</a> and <a href="http://www.museum.wa.gov.au/oursites/freohistory/schoolholiday.asp" target="_blank">History Museum</a> (all fall under the WA Museums).</p>
<p>It&#8217;s <a href="http://www.youthweek.com/">National Youth Week 2007</a> from Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 April 2007 and there is heaps happening, lots of free events!!</p>

<blockquote><p>Telethon presents &#8216;Fat Cat&#8217;s Got Talent&#8217; - a live, fun 90-minute song and dance variety show for children aged 1-8 years old.  In &#8216;Fat Cat&#8217;s Got Talent&#8217;, children are taken on a journey into Fat Cat&#8217;s world of talent, where he tries many different variety acts such as dancing, singing, juggling and acting, to finally become a full time professional tap dancer, in the show. Children will be given the opportunity to sing along and dance with Fat Cat and his friends with interactive songs and dance actions.</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>I think this week wins for most festivals in one weekend!!! Wow, and so much is free!</strong></p>
<p><strong>Festivals etc:</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.enjoyperth.net/2007/01/wild-west-comedy-festival-march-2007/">Subiaco&#8217;s Wild West Comedy Festival</a> is on and on Saturday and Sunday from 5.30pm, enjoy the free Poets Picnic at Subiaco Arts Centre (bring a picnic), with the kids.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.kalamunda.wa.gov.au/events.html">Kalamunda Show</a> at Kostera Oval from 5pm on Friday 30 and 10am to 10pm on Saturday 31 March.  Fireworks on both nights, and regular show stuff!</p>
<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.tazpublicity.com/specialevents.htm#wama">Medieval Fayre</a> at Supreme Court Gardens in Perth on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, cheap entry.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.joondalup.wa.gov.au/cms/templates/coj2_summer_grp.asp?id=277">Joondalup Festival</a> is held on Saturday 31 March and Sunday 1 April 2007 in the CBD of Joondalup from midday till 9pm/8pm. Live music, street performers, parade, kids activities, fireworks, rides and more!</p>
<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.armadale.wa.gov.au/Services%5Fand%5FFacilities/Events/">Minnawarra Festival</a> (arts and crafts, rides, animals, entertainment) is held on Saturday and Sunday in Armadale.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.fremantlefestivals.com/main/html/home_fiesta.cfm">Fremantle Children&#8217;s Fiesta</a> is on at Samson Park from 10am to 4pm. Many, many free activities, for children up to 12.</p>
<p>The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.autumnriver.com.au">Autumn River Festival</a> is held at Garvey Park in Belmont and Riverside Gardens in Bayswater and is a great free family event!</p>
<p><a href="http://www.southperth.wa.gov.au/fiesta/">South Perth Fiesta</a> is on till 1 April 2007, Mends St Carnivale is on Sunday!</p>
<p>The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.hbf.com.au/Content_Sections/Member_Advocacy/HBF_Telethon_Toddle.html">HBF Telethon Toddle </a>is on at Burswood Parklands on Sunday.</p>
<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.perthsunfair.com.au/">Perth Sun Fair</a> is all about sustainable living, and held at the Oak Lawn at UWA on Sunday from 9am to 5pm, gold coin donation entry, under 16 free.</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.claremont.wa.gov.au">Jazz in the Park</a> is being held in Claremont Park on Saturday from 2 to 5pm, a free Town of Claremont event.</p>
<p><strong>Free</strong> blues n roots music around Fremantle on Saturday and Sunday, as part of the &#8216;<strong><a target="_blank" href="http://sunsetevents.com.au/Event/West_Coast_Blues_n_Roots_Festival_2007/?Display=249">Freo Blues n Roots Fringe Festival&#8217;</a></strong>. Stages at Gino&#8217;s, the train station, in 3 CAT busses(!) and on a prawn trawler in the harbour at Cicerello&#8217;s!!! I can vouch more the greatness of many of the acts, especially the ones on the prawn trailer!</p>
<p>Sabroson perform latin/funk/jazz/hip-hop for <a target="_blank" href="http://www.kulcha.com.au/">Kulcha in the Park</a> at Altone Park Rec Centre in Beechboro on Saturday from 3.30pm, free!</p>

<p><a target="_blank" href="http://www.wildwestcomedy.com.au/">The Wild West Comedy Festival</a> is on in Subiaco, and on Saturday and Sunday from 5.30pm, enjoy the free Poets Picnic at Subiaco Arts Centre (bring a picnic), with the kids.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s <a target="_blank" href="http://conservationwa.asn.au/content/view/64/116/">Conservation Week</a> from 17 to 25 March, and there&#8217;s over 50 events around WA.</p>

<p><strong>Music:</strong></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gosnells.wa.gov.au/scripts/viewarticle.asp?NID=11731">Gozzy Rock</a> all ages band comp heats are held at Don Russel Performing Arts Centre in Thornlie from 9 February to 2 March.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.kalamunda.wa.gov.au/events.html">Jazz in the Park</a> in Stirk Park, Kalamunda from 6pm on Thursdays, free.</p>
<p>Crossthreads Music, Fashion and Dance at Forrest Chase on Friday night from 6.15 with the Panda Band etc, part of <a href="http://www.enjoyperth.net/2007/02/wa-music-festival-perth-2007/">WAMi Festival</a>.</p>
<p><a title="City of Bayswater" href="https://www.google.com/calendar/redirector.html?http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bayswater.wa.gov.au%2Fscripts%2Fviewarticle.asp%3FNID%3D3034">Be Active BOOMSHANKA 4!</a> all ages event from 3pm at Wotton Reserve Skatepark in Embleton with Delta Forse &#038; DJ Jamoo, Live Hip Hop plus DJs. Organised by City of Bayswater and <a target="_blank" title="WAM" href="http://www.wam.asn.au/wamifest07.htm#2402">WAM</a>. 99.9% sure this is free.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.enjoyperth.net/2007/02/anthony-callea-perth-february-2007/">Anthony Callea and Chris Murphy</a> perform free at Scarborough Beach on Saturday for the City of Stirling and 92.9.</p>
<p>A <a target="_blank" href="http://www.upperreach.com.au/concerts/concerts.htm">Twilight Concert</a> is held at Upper Reach Winery on Saturday night with Adam Hall &#038; The Velvet Playboys.</p>
<p>The <a target="_blank" href="http://www.cockburn.wa.gov.au/Things_to_See_and_Do/Events_Diary/Summer_of_Fun/?c=2">City of Cockburn</a> hold another free concert (Countdown) on Saturday night at Hopbush Park in Southlake.</p>
<p>Whiteman Park, <a href="http://www.whitemanpark.com.au/attractions/whatson-event.asp?event_id=345">&#8217;summer of bush dances</a>&#8216;,  with the Chain Reaction on Saturday from 7.30pm at Mussel Pool West. Entry is $8 for adults and $6 for children, bring your own chairs/picnic rugs and eskies, and the kiosk is open. Free train ride included.</p>

<p><a href="http://www.enjoyperth.net/2006/10/circus-oz-february-march-2007/">Circus Oz</a> (a contemporary circus) performs under the Big Top at The Esplanade from 21 February till 5 March 2007.</p>
<p><a title="Circus" href="http://kids.enjoyperth.net/2007/02/circus-joseph-ashton-midland-perth-2007/">Circus Joseph Ashton</a> (a traditional circus) is at Midland from 23 February to 18 March 2007.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.bocsticketing.com.au/get_events_info.asp?id=LOST07">The Lost Girl</a>, by Barking Gecko Theatre Company, is theatre for 5 to 10 year olds, and is on at Subiaco Arts Centre from 12 February to 3 March 2007.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.enjoyperth.net/2006/11/uwa-perth-international-arts-festival-2007/">UWA Perth International Arts Festival</a> is on from 9 February to 4 March 2007, and is jam packed with all sorts of entertainment.</p>
