Hard to find time

So much going on with me and shaney. Shaney is with an OT now and has therapressure two hourly and has to do 45 minutes of heavy lifting etc a day plus other stuff so hard to find time for everywhere. visit with Minds and Hearts went really well. Report on the way. Shaney will need to see psy for cognitive therapy and go back regularly to see minds and hearts.. unsure how that will go. but gonna try. sadly shaney came home with a really bad viral infection and has been ill since tuesday!... hopefully back to normal soon. Jess gets baptized tomorrow and shaney so sad to miss it

Shane has an appointment at Minds and Hearts on 29/09/08 it is quiet expensive but DOCS have paid for it as Shane needs it so bady an I was unable to find enough money. Its in Brisbane so about 4-5 hours travel in train and bus so shane is freaking out a bit But hopefully will be a good thing for him. Will let everyone know how it goes maybe it would help some others?

Things still difficult for Shane. But our set up in mornings is working much better. School is improving after we had a meeting with them taking along an advocate and a DOCS brighter futures worker. Shane still cries alot and is frustrated but having less problems at school so thats a start. Will take each day as it comes. No idea what is best anymore just taking a step at a time.

Thought I was doing th e right thing moving to an area with heaps of kids. Obviously not. SHane is struggling big time. He loves the kids but its too much and the parents although they like shane get short wtth him and even when he is not the one being naughty he often gets the blame. He and I are becomin alienated from everyone. I don;t know what to do. Am thinkin I might talk to my ex about us moving into the house we jointly own as he is mostly living with his girlfriend now.... just scared of making the wrong decisions again

Having heart problems so been in hospital, glad to be home but more than a little bit freaked out. Shaney has been stressed as had to stay with his dad. Brad is trying but its just not working. Shane cried at the hopsital and in front of brad said I do not want to go home with dad mum. Its so sad

Lots has happened since Oct. Got a job at local hospital doing admin and doing a course as well so with Shaney as well very tired. Shaney is doing ok but still alot of issues.. His ocds are freaking me out a bit at t he moment. If he likes something particularly buttons he takes them which would be fine except he is stealing them too. So back to counselling ..... but overall things are good

took my 7 year old to hospital casulty at 9am yestereday we waited until 12.45 then gave up. it was not urgent urgent but could not get into a dr and my son had an infection causing pain on urination so had to do something. I know they are short staffed but it really is apalling when you sit there for hours waiting

Mornings still working beautifully. The day has its ups and downs. Shanes teacher said most of the issues they are having with Shane are aspergers related not bad behaviour so they are working with shane still. In some ways I wish it was just naughty behaviour at least then it would be easier to fix.

I suffer from depression as does shaney and today was the day school went back so I knew he was gonna be worried. So I started the day waking him up singing!@ It was really funny. We then planned a race who could get showered and dressed the fastest without running. Loads of fun and he was so proud of what he could do. Then I decided to take him to Mcdonalds for breakfast and we played, giggled and snacked on pancakes..... We had the best morning and although he was still a little worried he got out of the car and said I am gonna have a good day mum gave me a huge smile and went in the gate to school. No matter what happens today - we had a great start

Since Brad has dropped shane off he has been irritable, shouting at me and speaking rudely to me..... I know its just a combination of confusion and stress but so hard to deal with. Using the naughty room mostly as smacking does not work but sooooooo annoying.

he was a bit grouchy but said it was mostly ok. Told me to ask shane about sharks. Apparantly they let shane go into surf without them and tell him to stay in a certain area.... he didn't so they told him he was lucky the sharks did not get him.... Am I nuts or is it just not safe to let a 7 year old past waist deep alone in the surf???????

Brad turned up 8.30pm and the 3 of us chatted then brad and I. We are going to try and work together. but who knows. I think shane did the most. when brad asked about shaney going to his place. Shane said something like I don't want to be mean dad but I might do something that annoys you and then you will yell and no one has a good time so maybe I should not come!... Brad was moved to tears and told shaney how much he loved him. Shaney told brad he loved him too. Tears all round. Brad is stil linsisitent that if I disciplined shane properley things would be better so I asked brad what he did to try and ascertain what he does differently. There were a few minor t hings so I agreed to do it his way for 2 weeks (minus the smacking) brad agreed. so I am hoping meeting brad half way helps. shane spent day with brad and is staying overnight so heres hoping

My ex rang today and asked to have shane for 2 hours on Thursday so he could see "how shane goes". For once I said what I thought. I was nice and did agree but told him about the fallout from his choices last week how much what he said had hurt shane and that if the 2 hours did not go well I would prefer he told me not shane. As its once thing to say hurtful things to me another entirely to say things like that to a 7 year old boy. Brad agreed!!!! was really surprised - hope I made the right choice. I don't want to tell brad he cannot see shane but really worried how shane will cope

my ex had our son for a day on the weekend, he rang me and brought shane home because 1. shanes ate with his mouth open 2. he failed to say please 3. he has "gay" mannerisms. My ex told my son he was not going to see him anymore!!!! My ex was very aggressive but I allowed him in as his girlfriend was with him, I sent my son next door to a safe enviroment. For 2 hours I tried to convince my ex he was making a mistake to no avail. His reasons for cutting our son off. 1. I am a poor parent and because of that my ex has to discipline him and he should not have too. 2. I should smack him if he does "girly" gestures.... which is silly. If I cannot fix him my ex will not have contact. How can I fix a child with high functioning autism!!!!. I wish I could find a good stepdad for shaney cause I want someone who will accept and love shane for who he is an exceptional beautiful little man

I took notes and bought a book. cried and laughed. Here is someone who truly knows what he is talking about having studied it for over 35 years. If you want a copy of my notes just email me. days going ok. still a bit of a struggle but could always be worse. My ex brad still blames me when shaney is naughty for him but I have decided I am not gonna stressa bout it anymore I will just guide shane as best I can and equip him with the tools to deal with his dad as best he can. AND PRAY!

still loads of ups and downs getting the help my boy needs but we are getting there. Its weird I really thought that I was over the trauma of my accident but watching an accident on neighbours tonight really shook me up. I really hope when I get rid of the car shortly that both my boy and I can finally move on its been over 3 years!

shane diagnosed with aspergers syndrome today. sometimes I wonder when things will ever be ok. He starts counselling again this week and all we can do is cross our fingers it will be enough.

I am sick of people judging me or my parenting because of my son's hyperactivity. To date I call them on it but am sick of defending myself and my son. A naturopath came to church about a month ago, he chatted to me and after trying to get me to buy his products (even told me I should loan money to buy products off him) gave me a free sample of sleeping tablets for shane. I did not give them to shane as I do not give my son any pills without paedrician ok. Now this person is telling people at church that he gave me the solution to my problem and that I chose not to do anything about it. I want to say something to him,, but is there any point?.... apart from this rot shane is doing really well. We are making friends with the neighbours too which has been great for both shane and for me too
