Thanks for all your advice! It's been helpful. I found not reacting and silently putting him on the floor / cot seems to work. He does even when I'm playing with him so i've used the same thing and his biting has 1/2. He's not taking chunks out of me either.
Thanks Minti world

She said to make sure that when they latch on, get as much of the breast into their mouth as possible. By doing this, their mouth is open wide, and their tongue sits forward, over the bottom teeth so they can't bite down, and they have to let go in order to bite. When they start to let go, yank them off quickly, before they can do it.

It's been a while for me, so I don't remember exactly how I did it, but it seemed to work.

I was also going to suggest saying no and then putting bub on the floor for a while, before trying again. This worked with my 6mth old daughter. She started biting me recently but has now stopped since I tried this!

There is a difference between growling and GROWLING lol.

When you growl, your voice needs to be low in pitch, but very firm. Your face needs to be in full growl too, including your eyes. When you do it right, you should start to feel as though your personality is cold. Keep eye contact and the growl posture for a while after wards, so your son really gets the message.

I equate teaching a child to training a naughty puppy, you have to really GROWL, or they just look at you like you are an alien.

If you need some inspiration for the GROWL, maybe check out your local dog training group and watch how they growl. Or, if you are lucky enough to know someone who trains dogs, get them to teach you.

Yes, it all sounds very silly, but it does work. I've had to do the same with my 9month old who has begun pinching and facing raking, and it is working. These days, all I have to do is growl lightly with the growl face on and her bottom lip gets going. Yes, I don't like having to do it, but I don't like being pinched or scratched either!

Try it sometime. Practice in front of the mirror if you have to, but remember, it is the long term results you are looking for.

1. If you don't already give your child solids before breast you should try that. Most biting occurs due to frustration at not being able to fill there lil tums quickly enough. (not sure if your feeding before or after but they might have a point).

I also found an awesome link for the breast feeding associations about biting which may help (not sure if you have again checked it out already but its worth a read i think)

the link is

From what you have said it sounds as if your little one is enjoying your reaction. My suggestion would be to gently say 'no' and put the little one down as quickly as possible somewhere safe. Try to make your reaction as low key as possible. I would pick little one up again about 30 seconds later and resume nursing. If it happens again then again say a gentle 'no' and put the little one down for no more than 1 minute. Just keep repeating as often as necessary. My little one was pretty stubborn but we did manage to stop the biting (except for the ocassional lapse) and keep feeding. Good luck and congratulations on still breastfeeding at 7 months. The older they get the more gymnastics they seem to do while feeding. Can get interesting.
