I recently went into hospital for a few days.  Just told the kids was going to the doctor obviously they can to see me but only for a half hour or so.  The kids were fine, even though my 4yr old won't let me husband put him to bed if I'm home.

Just make sure you husband distracts them, maybe have something fun planned for him and the kids.  Hope he is fine for you, I'm sure he will be just a little clingy when you get back.
