I've had three children now and all have been different in all ways. I can't tell you if it affects the baby or not but my last pregnancy affected me like that and i was also a night owl but there were other factors unrelated due to the ambilical cord. This doesn't seem to have any affect that I have notice except it had prepared me for the first month of a super hungry little girl night and day. Things settled after that and just got better to now 6mths - bed at 7/8pm - feed at 11/11.30pm - feed at 5/6am. And still super hungry started solids at 3mths because she wanted it.

Don't be too worried about the effects of your sleep deprivation on your baby. At the moment I'm having similar trouble, although I'm further along with mine. I don't get to sleep before 2am, and it's usually because my legs get restless and I can't settle and relax.

Don't be too worried about the effects of your sleep deprivation on your baby. At the moment I'm having similar trouble, although I'm further along with mine. I don't get to sleep before 2am, and it's usually because my legs get restless and I can't settle and relax.

I have heard many stories about mothers having terrible pregnancies, and their babies turning out fine. Mums who can't hold down any food for the whole nine months still manage to nourish their child sufficiently. I am low in iron, but my doctor has told me that my iron levels are dropping because the baby is getting what he/she needs from me, and bubs is at no risk from this.

My advice would be to get as much rest as you can, even if it isn't actual sleep, and try to be calm and happy. That way there's no risk of your anxiety being passed on to the baby (if that happens, and I sort of think it can).

Also, speak to your antenatal person - midwife or doctor, about your concerns. They will have lots of experience with similar things, and can help you to try things or at least give you peace of mind.
