I'm glad to hear that your depression disappeared after your son was born. But that's not always the case. Depression during and after pregnancy is not only very common, but highly documented these days. I would definately talk to your doctor about this. Check out this site for more details:

I was always tiny when i was not pregnant, and while i was pregnant i ballooned up all over. I think i could have coped ok if it was just my belly but i just felt like a heffa all over, and i think the hardest part is not being able to take anti-depressants to make it easier on yourself while ur pregnant. With my last baby I had a different partner to my other kids, and found that with his support i got through it alot better than i did first time around. If anyone wants to talk about it even if its just to have a whinge about how huge theyre feeling and that they just cant wait to meet their baby, feel free to send me a message, as i found it always helped just to vent and get it all off my chest. One thing ppl always find with me is that im an easy one to have a chat to, so even if you dont know me my ears are ready and waiting ppl!

I had 2 months in bed with morning sickness and the depression came back. Things started to lift after I spoke to my husband and asked my doctor for help. I have also spoken to a few close friends about it too. Just asking for help seemed to help a bit. I refuse to take medication for it while I am pregnant (unless it gets really desperate). I have started seeing a counsellor. I too have found that making myself get out and go for a walk helps a lot but unfortunately the weather does not always permit. Good luck with fighting it. you are not alone.

"Go and get someone else better looking" and thinking he was cheating with all the hot young girls in our town. I think when your pregnant your hormones are hay wire you really are not thinking straight. every sense is hieghtend and you feel that nothing is the same as before,in my situation thats what i felt.I gave away all my pre-pregnant clothes fearing id be a big ugly cow my whole life(my words) so i know just what that is like.I guess it goes away for alot of people and some it haangs around and becomes post natal depression like me.

I suffer from depression and it peaked after my first child.

I was on a lessor strength drug once I found out I was prenant. Zoloft made me feel my morning sickness was worse. So opted out and the rest of the pregnancy the happy hormones took hold and I was flying on cloud nine.

There is no studies I had been told how the drugs effect baby. A friend of mine is on the strongest kind and both her children are fine.

I was told as I am breastfeeding by baby I had to ween off slowly as he said she would get jumpy. She seems to be doing fine. I only feed her at night now before bed.

I know that the only reason some days I get out of bed is because my four year old is saying it's breaky time.

But I know even the doc's will tell you going for that walk with bub in the stroller will do you both a world of good. I'm not saying to much as I cannot get my self organised to do it as my four year old would say can we go home two doors up from our house.

I joined that gym for that reason. No children and total "ME" time. Now that you are pregnant I'm sure that they can give you a light course of exercise. I've seen plenty of prenant women at the gym. I had heard that the more fit you are the less of stress on the baby and you during labour.

I was lucky I had to walk over 30mins a day to and from the train station and work each day. I was fit and happy.

Good luck and as my friend and others tell me schedule schedule schedule as it will not get done.

I am finding it difficult to motivate myself, even getting out of bed is hard, even with Bobby(my little one) shouting at me, it kinda like I zone out.

I havnt been to see my doctor about my pregnancy yet, I am only bout 6 weeks pregnant and I am a bit concerned about talking to anyone about it as I dont want people to think I cant look after Bobby or the new baby properly.

I take Bobby out in the pushchair everyday and have done ever since he was born but now it seems like such an effort where as I used to enjoy it.

Yes, I had horrible depression from the middle to the end of my second pregnancy. Since hormones are at extreme levels, it is normal for some women to be depressed during pregnancy even though most attention is placed on post-pardum depression, I found the pregnancy depression was excruciating, especially when you have another child to tend to. LIke in my case (and yours). Although it's somewhat comforting to know it's "normal", it doesn't make it any easier.

I was moving during my pregnancy and having everything in transition was very stresseful for me so it compounded the dpression. It was a very rough time for me and my family. Looking back on it now, I recognize how severe it really was. Mine didn't really lift until my daughter was 18 mos old. It was a gradual recovery (if that's the right word) and those months were very difficult. I didn't seek help but probably should have.

I found that getting out of the house and getting fresh air was someting that would lift my spirits. I had to MAKE myself get out of the house and that wasn't always easy. I had friends who helped as well. Overall though I didn't really want to do anything. I had little motivation and felt overwhelmed. Is that what you are experiencing?

Have you spoken to your OB about it? Perhaps they can shed a little light on it.

It will eventually pass, but while you're feeling blue, it's very hard to keep that in mind. There's nothing worse than feeling alone during a bout of depression so try to take the steps to surround yourself with a support system and identify what helps you get though each day. I encourage you to talk to loved ones about it and also your health-care provider.

Best of luck.
